Raddle Feature Wishlist

  • Mods should get a 'hide' button instead of a 'delete' button, to hide comments and posts from view of regular users. That way the content can be restored if a mistake is made. Only admins should be able to delete content permanently, unless the content was posted by the user deleting it. [ziq]

  • Mods need to be able to demod themselves from subs. [ziq] (done)

  • (Hidden) upvote tallies for users, which can lead to users automatically becoming approved submitters (not limited to 3 posts per hour) if they get more than 30 upvotes on their comments and/or posts. [ziq]

  • To encourage users to contribute, unlock profile addons every time they hit a milestone. Addons can include profile themes, images, animations. The more stuff they unlock, the more they can customise their profile. (decided this would be too hierarchical) [ziq]

  • Alternatively, to encourage users to contribute, give them unlockable avatars. There can be 100 avatars that are unlocked 5 at a time, whenever a user hits a milestone. The avatars would only be displayed on forums that opt in. (decided this would be too hierarchical) [ziq]

  • Restore points for subs. If a rogue mod sabotages a sub, a simple click of the restore button by an admin will restore it to the previous point. [ziq]

  • Blocking of suspicious domains that are used to serve malware, kiddie porn, etc. Require users to upload images to a list of pre-approved sites, to be determined in f/meta. [ziq]

  • Add the theme-selector to the top of every forum so people can quickly switch from a list of forum-specific themes. [ziq]

  • Display the site-wide themes separately from the forum-specific and experimental themes. Add a site-wide theme selector to the top of the front page. [ziq]

  • On creating an account, notify new users that they have to wait 24 hours before they can make a sub. The message can be displayed on the front page, under the 'you're not subscribed to any subs yet, showing featured subs' message. [Cherimoya] (done - but on the forums page)

  • Raddle Spambuster privileges given to a set number of trusted and active users (depending on need). Will be able to remove spam and ban spammers even from subs they're not mods of. They'll only be able to ban accounts that are less than a week old. [ziq]

  • Admins and/or mods should be able to merge redundant forums so all posts/comments and mods appear on the same forum. [ziq]

  • The ability to embed a handful of locally-stored images (mainly memes) into posts. [ziq]

    • Why not GitHub markdown image format (with screen size limits)? That could be useful for using, say APIs to deliver interesting content like typesetted text (such as on latex2png.com). Make this opt in or whitelisted, so rogue users can't link to their own servers and track people. [emacsshibe]

  • Disallow usernames with slurs. [emacsshibe]

  • Allow admins to ban by account, instead of just by IP. [sudo] (done)

  • Create a "shadowban" feature, where a shadowbanned user's posts, comments, and votes will be visible only to them. [sudo]

  • API for browsing & interacting with Raddle. [jadedctrl]

  • Theme preview, for theme writers. [jadedctrl]

  • Modbot-style features: Such as being able to auto-delete threads linking to certain URLs, or autodelete comments containing certain keywords, etc. [Enkara]

  • Federated banning: Mods may choose to federate their banlists with other subforums. [Enkara]

  • Private subforums [Enkara]

  • See how many users and anons are currently on any given subforum [Enkara]

  • Delete user account

  • Delete private messages

  • Lists of upvoted and downvoted comments/submissions similar to the submissions and comments list for accounts

  • The ability to move threads to other subs that allow it, perhaps with some defaults like /f/purgatory to send off-topic shit, and/or /f/liberals to send stupid liberal questions.

  • Users can add "friends" or add personal tags to other users, to remember them [duckduckgo_bookchin]

  • Users should have a space to put contact info (and a bio maybe?), such as a Tox ID, to encourage secure PMing. [Elon_Satoshi] (done)

  • if you reference a user in a comment by typing " u/user " - that post shows up in their inbox [Tequila_Wolf] - if you feel like it!

  • Automatic partnered discussion page started for each wiki, linked in the sidebar of the wiki [Tequila_Wolf]

  • Private forums [r1l3y] - I guess this would be cool!
    • private forums seem fash-friendly [Tequila_Wolf]

  • Death to featured forums, at least in the rigid hierarchical way they currently exist. [Tequila_Wolf]
    • Or at least make /all the default front page [ziq]

  • automatic de-modding of people who have been inactive for a certain amount of time, maybe with an automatic notice to those subscribed that the mod has gone [Tequila_Wolf]
    • I suggest 3 months [ziq]

  • when making a change to a wiki page, it seems useful to have to add a short description of what changes you have made, for easier recognising [Tequila_Wolf]

  • "Report" button underneath posts/comments, which would send a PM to all the moderators. Optionally include a reason for reporting the post. [sudo]

  • Mods should be able to add mods to the forums they mod [Tequila_Wolf]

  • Editing a comment within a minute or two of posting it wouldn't trigger the (edited) flag on the timestamp. Such "Grace period" for fixing typos or clarification would be helpful [dowodenum]
