It is a decentralized video viewing website. That is why there are different versions hosted by different people with potentially different content. Raddle could make its own instance and post videos to that. By raddle I mean you me or anyone else on the site. If there is interest maybe we can propose it in f/meta.

Zoos and aquariums are making commodities of the experience of wild-life. Their capital is the animals they hold captive. Since the owners of zoos and aquariums are capitalists, they create the minimum viable environment to keep their animals alive. They pay the actual people who might actually care about the animals (trainers), as little as possible. Finally they advertise the cage viewing experience as a natural wonder that these weird animals exist, look how cute they are?

How I feel about them? They are exploitative nasty organizations that hurt wildlife for entertainment purposes, similar to animal circuses.

Sanctuary idea: I would like this to be a solution to currently captive animals: a humane group of people who want to kind of make reparations to these animals and educate about the effects of climate change on our home.

Manage your expectations. Converting someone over to your politics requires that the person has thought* of their own interests.

The problem I see often is that they have an ideological alarm system in their brains that prevent them from arguing in good faith. Antifascist, anarchism, socialism, capitalists, wealth-class, the rich, corporations are all tainted with right-wing propaganda.

You can navigate around that by talking directly to their problems without initially bringing up politics at all. Talk about their life, make friends, help them out directly and show them what mutual aid can do. Some people of course are too far down the rabbit hole and you have to use your best judgement. People who are neo-fascists (white-nationalist, ancap, proudboy-chauvinist, etc) I feel are suffering through mental illness and are not safe to engage, you can always bash them :^)

In my experience you have to be likeable. Once they are open to talking in good faith then you can discuss more and more how their situation is designed and enforced by the wealth class, how our planet is changing from habitat to hostile environment, how we have enough productive capability to end most forms of scarcity right now.

I hear you and sympathize but have you considered that you are dead in the water anyway? Even if they tighten their grip, even if every nation becomes a police state, the alternative is death. It just doesn't feel like it yet because when you open a faucet it still has running water.

Worst comment (on Youtube) I have seen so far is the idea that climate change is great because it will cause some economic-darwinian event that will separate those who can afford to survive, be it in space or a bunker, and those who wont.

TLDR:

Suspension of all industrial activities. That is my demand, and I don't think I am alone.

RANT:

I am sick of climate scientists dancing around the issue, pleading with these climate-deniers and capitalist apologists, repeating the same evidence endlessly. The argument on the surface is always: The jury is still out on science, when in fact the real argument is: I don't want to abandon capitalism even if it kills us all.
