a few years ago, i sent dozens of messages to youtube complaining about jihadi videos showing them throwing people off of buildings and other vile shit. they didn't do a damn thing. that's ok to show i guess. but criticising the fascists isn't. go figure.

not surprised by this unfortunately. it seems to also have come out now that he posted a youtube video i think sometime last year saying that he wanted to be the next mass school shooter or something to that effect.

but no, he can't be a terrorist. just a poor unfortunate soul who happened to kill a bunch of kids. now as the politicians love to say , "let's have a moment of prayer for the families".

they will make every effort to make him out as some poor troubled kid who fell in with the wrong crowd. no one will call him a terrorist.

this might be too touchy to start off with when you're engaging people for the first time, i don't know, but maybe get people thinking about the queen? why is there still a queen and what on earth does she do for the everyday regular dane to deserve her privilege?

i know a few danes, and the queen seems to be well loved, but again, i don't know if it's too taboo to start to pick that apart right from the get go.

it is very bad indeed. i live in an area that prides itself on being open minded and forward thinking. it's a huge mix of different kinds of people from all over the world here. and yet, i see it displayed and worshipped everywhere.

near the train station, there is a small plot of land that is privately owned that has a gigantic peace symbol painted in the american flag colors. it's been there for years. they cannot separate themselves as a people from what they believe the state is. the brainwashing is very deep.

thank you for the link. not sure what protocol applies here, but should i delete this post? it's in bad taste.

for about a short time, i lived in arizona. there was a pretty lively little punk scene in my town and unfortunately some nazi punks. they would turn up at events and start shit with people. they always had red laces on their boots and wore red suspenders.

they always ended up getting beaten up and chased away, but they never gave up, they just kept coming back. it was comical, to be honest.

me too! my daughter has started wearing doc martens and i found myself giving her the crash course on the meaning of laces and suspenders a few weeks ago.

she looked at me like i was nuts!

@ u/Pop & u/Leftous, i really appreciate your words, thank you :)

Leftous, if i had any doubts about you as a mod, i'd do it. but to be honest, i think you've done a stellar job in what's bound to be by its very nature the most difficult forum to be in.

you'll never win them all, but your integrity is what counts and i don't see any lack in that regard. if i'm familiar with the situation like i was with that user, i'll always jump in and help like everyone else did. i care about this place and the mediation forum is one of the things that sets us apart.

don't doubt yourself over this. just by taking on the mod role for /f/mediation, you've already shown that you have the sensitivity skills for it.

ziq is right. i'm not a musician, i'm a painter, so i think you stand a chance more than i do as the general population doesn't care about fine art at all, but loves music.

long story short, i stopped painting for a very long time only to come back to it 2 years ago. i've never been happier about it. yes, you will need to find a source of income, but your art matters more than money.

afterall, you are an artist, nothing can change that. creating art is like breathing, you have to do it or you'll be miserable.

i think this is all going to boil down to what drives anything in a capitalist system...money. the states that have legalized it are making, and have made, a ton of new tax revenue and they will fight hard to keep it.

the growers are taking a bigger risk than the average citizen, as they can have their businesses disrupted and their lives turned upside down if the feds raid them. for consumers, i think the feds gave up a long time ago on trying to prosecute them. again, it comes down to money. small fish vs big fish i guess.

all in all, i think this train has left the station. the momentum is too great to stop now and states that were once facing financial problems are seeing this a great way out of that.

hmm, you seem to be more up to speed on this kind of thing than i am. more than likely you are right. i'll admit, i know next to nothing about poaching. i find myself getting more militant about the well being of animals of late.

i'm tempted to say "come on tw, let me have this moment", but you're making me face up honestly, so thanks for that.

mediation doesn't work unless all parties come to the table fairly and honestly with a common goal in mind. i just don't see that happening. i'm not a mod or admin, so none of this is up to me.

but take it from me for what it's worth, i used to have the same defensive and aggressive way that you've displayed here. it gets you nowhere i'm afraid. facebook or raddle or any other place doesn't change that. you have to be able to look at yourself more objectively and take responsibility for your words and actions in life. you seem like a fairly intelligent person, but full of rage. i don't blame you for the rage, but your directing your it at the wrong people i'm afraid.

i'm sure you'll come to understand that one day.

yeah, i couldn't find anything either. if it's a local trying to make ends meet, then i'll humbly withdraw my celebration of this. it's in bad taste anyways regardless.

but if it turns out to be some dude from europe or north america out trophy hunting, call me a bad person if need be (i won't take it personally), but i'm going keep on smiling.

of course you are right and i was being reactionary. i'm just sick of reading stories about people doing horrible things to animals.

did they actually identify the person yet?

TimmyCatChores, all of us at some point tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but you don't seem willing to engage in a little honest self-reflection. no one here, including yourself, is above this. nobody's perfect and no one claims authority.

just be civil. if you can't, then the problem is clearly you and not others.

nobody has asked you to change your ideas and accept theirs in place of it. we all want to chat, strike up interesting conversations, learn from each other, and feel at home. my first interaction with you in regards to meditation showed me a new perspective, and i appreciate that. i don't agree with you entirely on your perspective there, but i appreciate you sharing it nonetheless and don't think any less or more of you for it. nor should you of me, but that's on you.

i tried to get through to you yesterday when things went nuts, but you weren't having it. others tried as well, but you attacked them. fine, maybe heat of the moment and not thinking straight...but today is a new day, and here we are again.

can you honestly tell me that we're not making an honest effort to engage you and embrace you here? why is there a need to ban or block you? you've said that so many times it almost feels like you want that outcome.
