This is a really great post, I have been thinking along these lines myself. We're at a point where a minimum wage job does not pay enough to afford a 1-bedroom apartment anywhere in the country. People literally can no longer afford to live and it's only going to get worse as the crisis of capitalism deepens. Banner drops and canvasing are not enough. We need organizations that take an interest in ensuring food, shelter, arms, work, education and healthcare for its members. If we can create counter-institutions that can directly improve people's material conditions we will not ever have to worry about recruitment. People will naturally flock to our banner if we can provide them a working alternative to the existing system.
