Parked too close to the store. Relied too much on showing my backside to the camera pov to hide the lift (only took a sec but still...)

I am over a month now since my last lift. This sort of posts scare me but mistakes that I have made won't happen again.

Sorry to hear it. How often did you do it and were they able to get your license plate?

Thanks. If the lifter knew what day an area is cycle counted, he or she can have a field trip!

"Many big name retailers have an associate or a team to help manage inventory on a daily basis."
Can you explain the procedure indepth for retailers like Lowe$ and Home D3pot. How do they keep track of all the tools like screwdrivers and batteries? Is it easy for them to spot a shrink in the powertool department?
Thanks.

It is an equivalent over here where I live. The process is, you have to send a copy of the receipt to Makita for verification. But you can get a full refund from the retailer eg. Lowe$.
Question is, what stops people from getting a free redemption tool that later refund the purchase. But keeps the redeemed tool.

I had a night to think it over. I parked away from the place. Changed my appearance and scouted to see if the box was untouched and unnoticed. It was just as I had left it.
So I concealed my item very well and used the lumber supply entrance, where workers and cameras are more focused on vehicles and exiting people.
I picked up the box and took it to my blindspot. Returned the tool and spider wrapped it correctly to prevent silly opportunists like me attempting it.
I don't think anyone will notice it.

I am relying on my ability to conceal the act from the camera. If they don't have a clear footage of me hiding the item, how are they going to make the case stick?
I prob feel safer as the months go on. Maybe by 3rd month, I can assume I am in the clear.
