people aren’t mods all across the site. this person has no authority over me and they are the mod of a forum that i have no interest in and even have hidden because i find the posts there annoying. i never said i agreed with the mod, just that i don’t agree with how you handled it. blocking you because i am busy watching cave swallows feed their young, have a mice life

you said it yourself, “not smart”, although in my opinion that is still toeing the line as intelligence doesn’t say if something is good or bad. how about ignorant, silly, nonsensical, and lots of other words. no matter if it is a person or an object we don’t use these words on raddle.

https://raddle.me/f/axolotl/77441/40-alternatives-to-ableist-and-oppressive-words

this link also gives a lot of alternative for lots of ableist words. if you are not willing to put in the effort to follow raddle’s site culture and respect it, maybe you should go somewhere else. this was a site created explicitly for post left and anti civ anarchists, so respect those roots.

looking at your post history, what you think are “reasonless” bans come from using language like “dumb” which you used in your first ever post on the site. any ableist language including words like “crazy”and “stupid” will be asked by a mod to be removed and depending on the situation can be a bannable offense. raddle is completely anti bigotry and oppression of any kind, and we make sure this space is free of those things. instead of being hostile at this mod which is what it seems like in the conversation you linked, the easy thing to do would be to ask what the abbreviations mean so you can understand why certain posts were removed.

well the ulster and fenian cycle would be good starts, they go over similar tales of heroes on adventures, and like the edda who was collected by the christian snorri, these tales were collected by monks as well. you can find some good videos just by searching up the two cycles on youtube that do pretty well at going through them, the mythological cycle focuses more on the gods and goddesses while the ulster and fenian cycle focus more on people with cameos from deities

i am definitely not super knowledgeable as i mostly know about what there is to read but haven’t read much through it, but am looking to change that with some hard reading over the summer

actually ireland became pretty much fully christian at latest the 8th century, before scottish gaelic (the language this folktale was written in) even evolved. the tale was written down in the mid 1800s so the celts had been christian for about 1000 years at that point. not trying to be rude, but the celts were some of the first in europe to become christian so it is a big part of the culture even today, look up gaelic psalm singing as an example.

i also double checked and when the say christmas it is “nollaig” in the gaelic (which does mean christmas) so it’s not the translator being weird like you do get in a lot of folk tales.

there are a lot of surviving tales like the ulster cycle ,fenian cycle, and the book of invasions if you are interested in pre-christian folktales.

i hate change so i hid almost all of the new forums. i am worried that since this is basically the only dedicated anti-civ social media website those roots will disappear because i’ve noticed not a lot of people are not reading the rules, like there is a new forum dedicated to making an unfunny joke about alzheimer’s (which in my opinion is ableism). i just want people to respect what raddle is and not try to make it the new reddit.

it is so weird looking at how people are so obsessed with putting people into two boxes that don’t even exist, so they force babies to have surgery to make their private parts more “normal” and all of these other things like shaving body hair or working out to make the boxes look more real. seeing all of these anti trans care for kids bills in the us as an intersex+trans person, i always notice how the “evil grooming life ruining procedures on innocent children” they are banning are still legal if it is done to intersex children who are coerced or forced into hrt or surgeries or puberty blockers to make them more “normal” while kids who want these things are banned from having them. to make the boxes seem more real so much hurt is done to people, abolish the boxes and let people be free.

i learn about edible plants and fungi where i live and try to make stuff like shoes clothes cordage, i learn about survival skills but can’t actually do it in practice because i can’t drive and none of my family would help me to get to a camping place, i will have to try camping in the back yard. i want to do stuff but because of the people i live with i can’t :( even just asking ‘what about going camping’ i am shut down.

i made some leather shoes recently and used some ochre i found combined with water to paint on a design, i want to do more monke stuff this summer but now i’m being forced on a road trip so idk. any ideas on how i can build my skills while being limited? i might just try to make survival tools like bow drills and various things just to learn even if i don’t have the opportunity to use them.
