The BLM protests where I live was ran by black folks who outright said at the rally they want to work with cops... lol. It's different where I live because afaik there has never been any big news stories of violence against a black person by the cops here, as well as the fact that basically all black people here are first generation immigrants that may have different experiences from black americans and canadians who families have been in America for multiple generations.

The thing is we had very similar actions here in Canada in solidarity with the Wet'suwet'en first nation when they were resisting a pipeline being built on unceded land. Protestors filled roads and railways were blockaded. The difference in lack of support is night and day. There are thousands of people protesting in Ottawa right now that couldn't give less of a fuck about indigenous people in Canada because a) they're racist settlers and b) they support our racist settler state. Where were those people when those solidarity protests were taking place? At home complaining about the actions and probably telling their families about their fantasies of running over protestors. This convoy has gotten millions of dollars in support despite their disruptive actions when the entire nation was opposed to the same disruptive actions when indigenous people and allies did them.
People will say "Oh not everyone there is racist, not everyone has a Nazi flag", but these people were not shutting down streets for indigenous solidarity or black solidarity. They are protesting for their own selfish reasons and patriotically waving the flag of their racist, settle state while they oppose the current governing party's actions.
I think you may be right about the governments reluctance to act on this, because ultimately they will ease restrictions (and claim its not because of the protests), then a) the protestors will feel as if they won and b) the liberals who support whatever the gov does, including restrictions, will support the easing of restrictions as well. The other factor is that these are mostly white, state-supporting Canadians and it will look so much worse for the RCMP to come down on these protestors the way they do to land/water protectors and other POC in this country. The racist settle state cannot brutalize it's most ardent supporters.

So this guy is a black american, and not even vegan, yet he thinks that food justice is more important than police/prison reform? Peak liberalism.
Also this isn't very relevant to f/Vegan, its the type of shit that carnist leftists use to smear us as liberals who care more about animals than people.

Vaguely, yeah its been a while since I read it. I think couples are a lot more realistic when they have shed those expectations and traditions. My partner is not particularly old-fashioned but has some traditional expectations that I encourage them to critique. I think that people who expect a monogamous relationship to work have to be very critical about the way they think it will work. This zine is definitely helpful in rethinking a lot of commonly held ideas about relationships.

Its a worthwhile critique, although as someone in a committed monogamous relationship, it's not enough to make me break that up. It certainly made me more critical of my relationship, and I think that if it ended for some reason I would avoid monogamy in the future.

I think there is a lot to learn from different religions, but that committing to one is dogmatic and limits your knowledge and potential enlightenment. I think that spirituality itself is more important than (claiming to) follow a religion, and that disregarding spirituality altogether is a mistake, one that many anarchists and leftists make especially. As an anti-civ/prim anarchist I think that looking into our past of indigenous, pagan, and animist spirituality can help us understand the crises we are currently suffering from and how we can reform some of the spirituality that we lost due to civilization, colonization and secularism. I think that this spirituality is essential to a post-civ/new primitive way of living and that as anti-civ anarchists we should not be so quick to say "No Gods" like some of the other flavours of anarchists out there. After all, pre-civ/pre-state humans weren't "Atheists".

Reply to Computer Simulation by monday
I was just thinking about the simulation thing today. I think it's just a way for dorks who fetishize science and tech to rationalize the idea that we have a creator. The whole idea of a simulation is that it is a representation of reality ie. The Sims. The sims in the game cannot actually think or feel, the game is simply a representation of our lives. How could we, who think and feel, be a representation of something else more real? The word simulation doesn't even make sense in this context unless you are proposing we are actually just a representation of a world that has more dimensions than ours, which is quite a bold and complicated claim that it seems none of these "we live in a simulation" people are trying to make.

I said that I don't want to see reddit drama, and I thought it was clear that I meant all the posts from anti-work users about their "movement". I even clarified in the comments that I don't mind the cringe posts (from you). I don't think these cringe posts constitute "reddit drama".

Honestly if you're having trouble committing, you just need to expose yourself to more vegan/animal liberation media. Eventually guilt will consume you and you no longer have the will buy animal products. Worked for me.

You need to give up on reddit. There is no movement. Redditing is not activism. Its killing your mental health and you will be much happier when you leave, I promise.

It's cool that others feel the same way as me lol. I have always been sexually attracted to men/masculinity but my romantic attraction is almost 100% towards women/femininity. I have yet to actually have a sexual experience with a man so that might change, but that's more or less how I've felt as long as I can remember.
