oh hey it's the Dread™ person! I recognise you! :))
I get it, and I know you might not need to hear this, but. I wonder if there's something beautiful in it happening every single second. & if I could be friends with it

no, she lives in the Motherland, but I miss her very much :( but also: I fully thought the (s) denoted the possibility of lesbian grandmothers before I did a reality check and remembered people can have 2 grandmas both in heterosexual relationships lol
other news: broke my bike a few days ago and now it's just sitting in the living room waiting for me to actually do something about it, & I forgot how much I hated walking. not pleasant little walks, but walks where you want to get somewhere. the never-changing loud roads and identical houses. the way everything starts to feel all distant and faintly irritating. ugh

Ofc, talking about anarchist and adjacent stuff through culture is a great idea in general, I find it so much less emotionally draining for all parties involved than hard-line evangelizing. I often bring up the radical history of a popular idea if it comes up in conversation, or like, how so-and-so culturally significant person was actually advocating for anarchist ideals. Not doing a speech but just interesting factoids and some recommendations if they express interest. Not sure if it statistically (?) does anything but I find it nice

Err I'm the one who was hooked! I was exposed to anarchist ideas through The Dispossessed (wonderful novel btw! I love Le Guin's works). I was a teenager just becoming politically aware, and I think the framing of anarchism as a thought experiment/speculative fiction concept is a neat way to circumvent the "chaos extremist bombers bad" popular perception! :)

Reply to Do you ever type out a response to something somebody said on the internet and then realize it's completely not worth it? by bi_anarchista27
I feel at this point the only truly interesting and thoughtful discussions I have are with people I know well in person, and occasionally on Raddle.
Honestly, yeah. Although most people you meet in real life aren't going to have the exact same position as you (especially if you're a raddle user ^^;;) they actually want to listen and engage with whatever you're talking about. My theory is 80% of political content on the internet are coping mechanisms for The Crippling Sense Of Dread That Things Are Going Horribly Wrong & it's better to treat them as such.

if you have a library, leave it in the political science / social science / history session so that it will reach people already interested in such topics. or I guess you could leave them in random corners? but also intentional, so it's like a Little Surprise Just For You that will grab peoples attention :))

Reply to Do y'all ever find that attempts to mainstream anarchism ends up adopting questionable politics most of which have nothing to do with anarchism by Blackapocalypsexdd
you people are, to put it frankly, a little obnoxious. “I hold this idea that I believe will make the world a lot better but I want no one to know about it” …why?? imho I would prefer popularization of good faith anarchism (even if watered down) than it being perpetually a counter-culture on the peripheral of society… hm i don’t know
