Fanon was very influenced by Césaire; he at one point says in the Wretched of the Earth "Not so long ago, Nazism transformed the whole of Europe into a genuine colony." You could also argue Césaire's statements about how 'Europeans each have a Hitler inside them' as being extended by Fanon's analysis of the psychology of the colonized.
reading like cesaire, fanon, & wynter one after another is really cool to see them elaborate on each other's thoughts in interesting ways
Schmidt denied that this would amount to censorship while claiming that Google’s anti-RT algorithm would block information that is “repetitive, exploitative, false, [or] likely to have been weaponized.”
"likely to have been weaponized" isn't vague or dystopian sounding at all
it's pretty annoying that a lot of woke discourse is stuff that people said years ago on tumblr . there are definitely people in academia trading off that knowledge right now & many of the people who did that work are like making 30k for a shitty corporation. there are a lot of people who are angry their work is influential but unpaid & they have no redress. im not sure what my point is it's just a really shitty situation for a lot of people, and what to do about it is tbd atm
lithub has some good stuff. i like the criticism of amazon, but i'm pretty sure defeating amazon's increasingly publishing power will take both offline & online competitors
like we need bandcamp (i'm not actually sure how 'good' bandcamp is) for publishing ebooks
yeah, not a huge fan of wilderson. i was listening to an interview & was reminded that this is where the term Afro-pessimism comes from & thought it'd be a cool thing to post
this is largely focused on like the logistics and process behind the leak for reporters (largely the nytimes) & the stories concerning Trump & Russia for those wondering
ALSO THERES A MOMENT WHERE A NEW YORK TIMES REPORTER IS EMAILING ABOUT THE LEAKS WITH GMAIL!!!!!
"With the Renoir…I mean, Harvard is an evil place. Part of the way that evil manifests itself is that they just own a tremendous amount of shit. It’s unfair. And it should be broken up." amen
