Do some googling for the stores you're lifting from, and look into what they're doing to stop it. Not trying to sound like a smart ass either, I was surprised what I found looking that up for grocery stores in Canada. See if you can find what kind of items they're tagging to go off(if the towers are actually doing anything, they might just be there to scare you). Things like meat and dairy are pretty high theft and seem likely, if they are actually tagging items.

Sounds like the footage they'd have you would be pretty damning. If security thinks you're stealing, anyone else who sees it would probably think the same. I think you'd have to get lucky and get a hot head security guard who roughs you up over it or does something wrong like that.

For real. I went into the bestbuy here a few months back when I heard they might have GPUs in stock, which they of course didn't, and it's so fucking dead. Going around the holidays would be the only time there would be a reasonable amount of people in the store and I'm not convinced it would even be busy.

Not saying you aren't, but make sure to stay careful with grocery stores. Theft is rising and only going to get worse with the way prices are heading, they're going to start doing more soon to stop it I'd imagine.

It also doesn't hurt to look into what the stores are doing. Checking things like if they're hiring loss prevention, looking up articles about what they're doing to stop shop lifting, etc.

To add to this you could probably play a bit of dress up and look like you're maintenance and people wouldn't think twice about it.

Have different outfits and keep track of where you've worn them all. Different hats, different glasses, if you don't require glasses it's even better. Are you wearing a mask?

How long do you spend inside the store each time? You definitely want to be in and out, so if they do recognise you and call the cops you'll be gone before they get there, assuming loss prevention doesn't physically stop you. Cops in this area probably couldn't be bothered to show up for something like this currently, too busy dealing with the drug overdoses and mental health problems.

Obviously though you should slow down, or stop for a while, it'll catch up with you eventually hitting these same stores. You should go to a new area and hit up as many as you can in a big sweep, then don't go back for a long while. Though you'd have the risk of having a car loaded up with stolen shit.

You hid a hoodie in your shorts? How fucking big are your shorts? Sounds like it would be super super obvious. IMO it sounds like he certainly knew what you were up to and was trying to scare you off, especially if they have a rule about not confronting shop lifters.

Certainly smart about not going back for a while after that, and about not going about the shorts stuffing method in the future.
