I believe with no receipt returns the store credit/gift card is now tied to whoever is returning the item. I tried returning a few things without a receipt a couple years ago and they asked for my ID and said that the store credit will be linked to my ID so when I come back to use the card I needed to be there during checkout. Obviously, they're doing this to reduce the amount of non-reciept returns that transpire into the card being sold to someone else or to gift card buyers. I believe Lowes follows this same procedure. Never tried again after that.

I've done a fair amount of walkouts at HD out the garden center. I use to go over to the tool section and grab what I could but I feel like as soon as you set for over there you're automatically going to have eyes on you to see what you took and where you're going after that. So lately, to be in and out with hardly anybody seeing me I grab a cart and go down the grilling BBQ area near the entrance... there's batteries, chainsaws, blowers, pressure washers... all big high priced items. The end of that aisle is usually near the garden center entrance so I can slip out there and walk straight out with my decoy receipt. I usually try and time my walkout when the cashier is already ringing someone up so I can just walk past them. By doing this you can usually get something of good value with the high chance of only one or two employees actually seeing you.

Macy's ink tags do not trigger the gates but check the actual clothing tags that have the barcodes on them. Hold it up to the light and sometimes you'll see a thin sensor embedded in them. It's so thin you can't even feel it thru the tag most of the time. I just tear all the tags off to be safe. I've seen the sensors in the Free People, DKNY, and Calvin Klein clothing tags before.

Vintage Levi’s. I got a pair at Goodwill for $6 bucks and sold them on Poshmark for $75.

Okay so honestly, if I were your friend I would absolutely be worried. I was arrested at kohl’s for shoplifting and this was not a normal stop, where LP gets you at the door then cops are called.

I conceal a bunch of clothes in the fitting room then walk out. I get to the car and move a few stores down from kohl’s in the same shopping center while I wait for my boyfriend to walk out. He walks out and gets in the car so we leave thinking we’re all good. Nope. A couple miles down the road while I’m stopped at a traffic light a cop cuts off the car behind me and pulls us over. Turns out the LP followed us in his vehicle to direct the police to our whereabouts. We both got arrested and my car was impounded.

Later on when I was going to court over this and was able to see the security camera footage, on a scale from 1-10, the clarity was an 8. You could undoubtedly tell it was me. So if they have your friends ID and footage of the whole incident I would expect to be hearing from the law.

Are they clear with a black or grey top? I think you're talking about the alphaboxes that Walmart keeps video games and hard drives in. But yah you use the S3 key and slide it across the top. It's hard to explain how to get it open but YouTube it and I'm pretty sure I've seen a video showing you exactly how to do it.

I always say I'd rather look suspicious and go home then look innocent sitting in jail.

Also, always go to the bathroom after concealing in Walmart. Part of their policy, like many other stores, is they can't loose site of you or the item for more than a couple seconds in order to stop you. So if you go to the bathroom they can't know for sure if you still have the item on you. My boyfriend and I nicknamed it "resetting the clock".

I had LP follow my car for 3 miles in their personal vehicle to let the cops know where we were going. Police ended up getting behind me and pulled me over. Before that experience, I always thought I was in the clear as long as I got outta the store with no problems.

I don't deposit all my cash. Some of it's in a safe but the money I've deposited has never been questioned. I use mobile banking with Chime so I have to deposit money by going to Walmart or Walgreens.

I totally see what you're saying. I had very specific instructions on how to put my magnet together and thru a little trial and error I've perfected it but the DIY magnet isn't for everyone. Thankfully it never fails me on the boxes, spider wraps, and those big alpha tags with the wire.

I grab the following items regularly and they always sell quickly:

  • Tools - I grab smaller tools that fit into a small backpack that retail around $130-$200 and I sell them for half their retail price. Usually grab Dewalt and they'll sell super quick. I go to Hme Dpt & Lows. Sometimes they're spider wrapped, depends on the location. Not source tagged. Leatherman Wave + also sell extremely well. They're $100 retail and I sell them for $50 all day long. Source tagged but I take it into the bathroom and use a sharp knife to cleanly cut thru the plastic packaging then thru the tag so its inactive and won't set the towers off. Packaging will still look nice so I can advertise it as brand new factory sealed, which will always yield you the most money when reselling.
  • Philips Hue products - Get them from same hardware stores. Sometimes spider wrapped. Source tagged but I go into the bathroom and remove.
  • Hard Drives - I get these from Walmrt . Usually in the plastic security boxes but I bring into the bathroom and open the box with magnets. There are two brands at Walmart, WD (not source tagged) and Seagate (source tagged at bottom of box - open and rip off). As long as you go to the bathroom after you conceal and before you leave Walmrt can't stop you because they lost sight of you therefore can't prove you still have the item on you.

I would highly suggest stealing yourself at least 8 packs of neodymium magnets from Hme Dpt, then you can make yourself a DIY S3 key to open spider wraps and plastic security boxes.
