Breaking the conditioning of the mind that boxes one in. Such as nationalism, culture, "occupations", names, religion, "education", "the self" and so on. All of it conditions a person to think a certain way and prevents you from seeing things as they are. Instead one sees their conditioned viewpoint of the thing, which is a bias or prejudice.

Sharing is caring as saying goes. I read that he enjoyed working with a live band on The Thieves Banquet album and he is learning an instrument himself so we could see similar tracks on a new album.
Yes some real gems on there. I really like "I Don't Know". "Freedom Lasso" and "Where I'm From".

Yes , the whole album has a rock vibe to it. Having heard his newer stuff first It took me a while to get a feel for it. It is good to see his growth over time. He still stands out even on his earlier stuff.
I'm looking forward to his next album whenever it may come.

Thanks, I'm familiar with the material due to the documentary so the audiobook will do for now. I appreciate it all the same however.

Most entertaining was probably Kevin Mitnick's "Ghost in the Wires". I could not put this book down. I also enjoyed Cory Doctorow's "Little Brother" and "Homeland" books.
Most radical was probably Chomsky's "On Anarchism" or Naomi Klein's No Logo. I have my eye out for a copy of her "Shock Doctrine" book, I have the documentary however. Her book on climate change "This Changes Everything" is in my to read queue.

Reply to Do you "wear your beliefs"? by dele_ted
Personally no. I'm aware of the surveillance state apparatus and what happens to those on the left. I find being able to blend in has its advantages. I do my best to avoid being a walking billboard for corporations and shop ethically.
I don't have belief in anything, something is either a fact of it is not. Beliefs will prevent me from a clear perspective as it stake an identity to the outcome. "I must feel a certain way".
It is a fact that capitalism and neo liberalism does not work for the majority of the planet. So there is no belief needed. I would not want my own life taken therefore I do not take animals lives or support it, I do not want to be told what to do therefore I do not tell others what to do and so on.
People often associate their ideas with themselves and take it personal if the idea is critiqued which prevents dialogue about the issue in question. Trying to force change upon someone will only cause conflict. People have to want to change themselves.
I focus on bringing about change in myself and helping others if they desire. I have found this way it comes up naturally in conversation and I can mention things rather than preach.
If I find someone who does not want to hear it, I stop talking or change the subject. Can't win them all.

Reply to How do you read books? Paper? Where do you get them? Digital? What service/ereader? by JoeMemo
I prefer paper books but have downloaded many pdfs too. With the pdfs I'm always weary of exploits so I read them in a sandbox but this is a pain for mobile devices.

Those in power won't educate you to get them out of power. It is designed to produce economic units to produce, consume and be subservient.
Knowing this it falls upon us to educate ourselves.

First realize in the west especially we are constantly bombarded with hollywood icons with the aim of manipulating us into spending our slave wages on products and services we do not need.
The gym rat culture thing arises from insecurity due to the above. The constant need to compare is the same as narcissists on facebook <stasibook>. I pity them to be honest because they are caught in a mental trap. Despite what one thinks it does not define one as a person as it is an external thing. So in identifying myself as a gym rat I'm going to feel threatened if I'm perceived to be less of a gym rat than my image of myself as one. It creates a constant state of conflict and tension within oneself.
I would like to point out also that women have a tremendous pressure from the cosmetics and fashion industries. Like men who are all supposed to be ripped lumberjacks and james bond supermen, women are made to feel inadequate if they are not kim kardashian or celebrity du jour. Selfies and social media doesn't help in this regard.
From a personal point of view I care about living a clean and healthy lifestyle. I look for the same in a partner. That being said, I don't desire them to dress a certain way or wear particular products or whatever. I'm interested in a persons mind the most though.
Exercise is necessary for living a healthy life. If it comes to it I want to know I can lift my own weight or save another person or out run state enforcers.
Mandela and his fellow political prisoners did pushups and ran on the spot in there cells every morning.
If anyone who reads this doesn't exercise I would recommend doing some yoga. It is low intensity and will help reduce stress and keep you supple.
