I've been feeling quite angry at myself and the world lately because of a series of problems I've been having. Besides financial problems and having depression for some years now I've been having some symptoms that could have been Covid-19. Thank god I've received the result of the CPR exam today and it's negative. My family has been a great support. I feel like that most of my problems are derived from the capitalist system in which a girl or a guy working 40 hours a week can't really live comfortably. I started getting depressed precisely because I was pushing myself to study and work ever harder to get myself a better job. Capitalism sucks.

Just being there for your friend is 90% of the work I believe. Ask your friend how he/she/they feels and don't judge. If you friend is being medicated ask if he/she/they are not skipping the meds. You are good friend for thinking of ways to help your friend :)

Have you read any book by Mark Boyle OP? He's an Irish guy who lived three years without money and currently we doesn't own a cell-phone and he isn't connected to the grid. Quite inspirational for real.

Check https://www.lowimpact (dot) org/happy-pig-ireland-intentional-community/

You can check also a dude called Rob Greenfield on YouTube. He's a dude a friend of mine called my attention to a couple of weeks ago. Greenfield has lived a whole year eating food he harvested. Even his salt was made by him!

Do you spend a lot of your time looking at a computer or cell-phone screen? I'm an IT guy so I can really say much about it :D although I try to reduce my amount of exposure to technology on the weekends and during vacations. 50% of what I read in on paperback and 50% on my kindle but I'm trying to reduce my Kindle usage.

I've been reading anti-civ literature for a while and it's getting me. I've been even thinking about of getting another job for real.

Wish you all the best OP!!

I've never felt the way you do (suicidal ideation) but I try to understand your viewpoint. First I would like to point out that you are a valuable human being and that although I personally don't know you I just want to give you a digital hug hugs

There is still opacity as you say. Big brother is out there always collecting information but we also have some tools to fight it. We can make it harder for NSA and such entities to spy upon us: using Whonix, using Tor, using Tails, using getsession.org and we can feed false information to it bit by bit (start reading newspapers and articles about the political views that you oppose and things you haven't yet read about). In this way you can learn some news things and be more knowledgeable about your political opponents.

I'm not an accelerationist either but I believe that some good could come from a Carrington Event. Although the data bases of NSA as reported by Snowden in his book are undergroud and EMP protected an EMP would wipe out pretty much all hard drives on earth and there would be cameras, cellphones, tablets and computers to extract (meta)data through "bulk collection" [mass surveillance]. OP, remember that not everyone is a Facebook ape :P I once used Facebook and Instagram but now I don't and I feel way happier now. I try to compartimentalize my digital life (there is my cellphone for clearnet browsing and whatsapp, calls and text messages) and then my Linux computer with Tor. Remember to feed the Machine! When browsing clearnet on more insecure ways (cellphone for example) search for things you don't really enjoy and opposite political views. It will both make you learn something and your metadata will be more random.

In fairness for a large portion of people in developed countries are in bad situations financially bc they just spend fuck tons of money of frivolous shit. Like increases in income just increase how much the spend. It's really common statistically and people around me in the US at least.

  1. Have you posted this from your phone? If yes, omg.
  2. Change all the accounts that you used from your cellphone
  3. Reset your phone and give or sell your phone to someone else
  4. Get a new cellphone and do the following things: a) Encrypt the phone and set a password to enter on the phone b) Choose another password (password 2) to register to clearnet accounts c) Use your phone only for clearnet accounts (you could use protonmail and mega.nz instead of gmail and google drive) d) To browse this website and all websites that you don't want Big Brother to know about get yourself a computer running Linux (Whonix if possibly). From there install Tails on a usb drive if you wish Good luck.
