He's a cool guy. He just needs to learn to do his own dishes, lol.

Hard disagree. Anything happening against your consent sucks. It's perfectly acceptable to poop but if you take a picture of your poop to show your doctor, you wouldn't expect anyone other than your doctor to see it and associate it with you.

There was 1 glorious week that this happened in my old apartment. Then we moved and the dishwasher broke and somehow that is an excuse for not washing your own dishes(?!). I'm bitterly angry that I am washing every dish right now. I complained to my husband that a minimum of 9 meals a day were being consumed in this household and I was cleaning up after all of them. His response was to tell me that particular day he and my daughter had skipped breakfast as if 6 meals to clean up after a day made it okay. And it's a line of bullshit because it's usually more than 9 when you count snacks in there - and why does that fucker need a new glass every time he's thirsty, yo? Grr. I'll go sit in a corner with my angry, pout face on now.

I think you missed the beginning of the story of that girl. She first had her private videos leaked and uploaded. She had no consent in the matter. Her suicide attempt was after those stolen videos became public. She wasn't a sex worker. She was a teenager who gave a boy videos/pictures and who had her trust violated.
After the suicide attempt, feeling powerless, she sold her own pictures and videos. This was a response to a trauma. She would likely not have performed those behaviors had she not had her sexuality un-consensually sold. She was commodified against her will. I will absolutely moralize anyone who will commoditize a someone's body against their will. 100 fucking percent.

Indeed. I said this on the other thread about this. Like, the cops shot him for having a kitchen utensil when they broke into his kitchen. He's just like "why are you in my kitchen?" and they're the ones freaking out like "stop having a kitchen utensil in your kitchen!" The cops look like they are responding to something other than reality. The guy in the kitchen looks like he's just trying to make a sammich. I mean, come one, a bread knife is so dangerous? Fuck off with that noise.

So much:
- Only having to do 1/4 of the dishes - I thought it was bad having one week a month where I had to do the dishes. Man, I'd take that over having to do them all.
- People not knowing shit and being okay with it - I'm old. We didn't have google then. We sang the lyrics wrong and no one fucking cared.
- The fort we "made" in the slough (if you can count nailing boards to a few branches and not building any "buildings"). Sitting on top of a tree branch as a lookout in that fort or crawling through the brambles to get to the cattails to make spears out of the cattails.
- My brothers who never call, never hang out. Adulthood happened and I barely hear from them.
Not to say there isn't a lot I don't miss. But there was some cool shit that I miss.

Cops break into his kitchen and demand he stops holding kitchen utensils while he is in his kitchen while refusing to answer why they broke into his ktichen. I'm sorry, their faculties seem more impaired than this man's. Maybe they need to be accused of being on drugs instead of the dude trying to make a sandwich.

because that's where it is 99% centralized
It's really not, though.
censorship
It's not a government entity. You are not being censored. You can go make your own website and say whatever stupid ass shit you want to on it. The people who run this website don't want you to say the stupid shit on their website.
why this specific group's rules are made the site-wide rules
Because we wanted it that way.
My suggestion would be to only prohibit what is explicitly illegal and leave more specific rules to individual forums.
No thanks.

Does saying that make me such a monster that I have to be expelled from a community?
Yes. Please wait patiently, an admin will be with you shortly to ban you for ban evasion.

I guess empathy is for other people, huh?

You have 1984 and Dostoyevsky on your list. Based on this, may I recommend a book to you? We by Yevgeny Zamyatin. Thought to be a grandfather of the future dystopia novel genre. It is so beautifully written. It has all the weight of early Russian lit (with some of that "the writing must be beautiful and it must also be useful") but with a weird quirk - the writer wanted it to sound like he was having a convo with the reader so he used odd punctuation to force pauses and enforce an almost lyrical meter. He thought of it as writing equations, which just makes it so so interesting. I'm honestly bored by the 1984-type future dystopia plotline and the plotline is similar in this book. But the way it is written...I've re-read it at least three times, just to enjoy the way the prose flows.

Oh, thanks for this. I was thinking of asking people here on raddle specifically for this type of thing. I've been reading some genre fiction by a white dude and I'm just exhausted by hearing another story about a dude. Thank you for this list. <3

Finally saw this week's episode of The Conners. It reminded me of Roseanne when I was a little gay kid having lesbian representation. I was so stoked back then. Here was "middle America" show talking about something I was. It was such a big deal to me.

I have this same issue, too. I found, though, that after I gave in to the anxiety and worked harder they just expected me to always work that hard.

We don't have central heating either. We live where it doesn't usually get below freezing so we usually deal with this by wearing warm clothing and using small space heaters. However, I'm now getting old and have arthritic knees. This is making it a bit less bearable to do that.

I'm a good cook. I've spent years perfecting it. I love serving people my good food. But god, I get sick of cooking, too. I loved my mom's cooking and would eat it every night still. She makes the best spaghetti and I loved salad night where she would make us a little salad bar and we'd all make our own.
