I worked at two McDonalds restaurants over a 10 month peroid. The things described in this article are indeed commonplace. I burned myself many times on the grills while cleaning them, because we couldn't wait for them to cool down (fucking hurts). You are being kept in line by constant threat of recieving warnings, after three of which you'd get fired. You can recieve those warnings for putting an extra slice of cheese on your lunch break burger. For your break you are allowed to consume a few Euros worth of products, anything above that gets deducted from your pay (A few Euros doesn't buy much at McD...). The attitude that most customers have towards you doesn't help.
