Eeerm, well, it can be irritating to have someone running around crying at things.

I was expecting something more like posts about lack of accountability in existing systems (pardons, lack of punishment for those in favour, that sort of thing) or perhaps sarcastic posts about same. What's actually here is probably more useful than having a forum only for that, honestly.

The "I'm [some minority] so I'm an expert on being mistreated and oppressed and therefore it's fact that those [other minority] are whiny [whatevers] and should shut up" thing is unfortunately a real thing :-\ It's quite frustrating to see.

(Accidental dissection follows)
That post of course isn't about an actual gay perspective but rather 'playing the [minority] card,' as certain sorts of people love to project onto others. That 'gay card' there clearly doesn't inform that person's discourse, it's just there to add force to the silencing attempt and is therefore irrelevant at best. The way it's played suggests this: "I'm gay and shut up you're evil!" not "I'm gay and because of that I've seen [list of problems] come from this sort of thing." There are references but not links to what I suppose is supposed to be proof that social justice sorts are all liars and frauds, which is just lovely. Additionally the whole post is highly irrational and assumes it's fully established that everything related to social justice is some kind of asinine power game like the injustice-favouring sorts like to play. Hmm... these peaches are awfully cold.

Bonus member-of-a-minority trying to silence others: https://lkml.org/lkml/2018/9/17/486 Also is Linus a trans woman? That "fellow faceless transgender woman" bit seems super odd.

Bonus sarcastic joke: Once we've 'taken control' of Linux, what's our first 'order of business?' I vote we rename it to something based on the name of a different contributor every release (maybe twice on some releases) and laugh at anyone who complains because we'd totally do that and because no one can oppose our imaginary SJW hierarchy OF DOOOOM! Bwa ha ha!

Time to stop and post this before it gets any bigger and probably-messy-er. Hopefully I didn't leave it in too much of a state. I am, however, giving myself points for 'state' being a bit of a potential pun there :P

Edit: Very strange oops up top; the only thing I really wanted to add when I started this comment ended up being broken, how great is that?. I'm curious about the downvote, too. I thought this one might come out poorly but hoped to learn from it if that were to be the case.

Hey, have you heard of this new leftist forum site called Raddit^WRaddle? It's... well, it's a thing. And sometimes people say things on it. Some of these things are amusing or interesting or whatever.

Look, just check it out and let me know if it's any good, okay? https://raddle.me

This actually makes me a little happy. Something's happening, at least, and it's a pain to capitalists :) Maybe not much, but it is.

I'm so done with people not understanding this. "But it's against the law!!" Who wrote that law? Some rich white cishet pisshead who'd be angry with you for making a mess if you took a bullet for him and bled out on his floor? Imagine getting a coupon for a dollar off a five dollar punch in the throat and taking it as a good deal because the person who's been punching you in the damn throat says so.

In other news, the chocolate ration has increased. What the hell.

That really was just meant as a shorter version of a longer jab at the sort of community LKML had become known for and somewhat at Linus himself being very adamant about his famous/infamous style of management there. Sorry for that coming out like a suggestion of dishonesty. I have to agree with your evaluation of the situation there: I don't see any reason to expect that this is anything but Linus having a change of heart.

That reminds me of some other schooling criticisms, particularly along the lines of "learn the test, not the material." In fact I think the issue is the same: people seek the 'goal:' a high number at the end, a glowing review or evaluation, a job, whatever. It seems in many cases there's no real choice otherwise. "Get good grades or you're a failure" leaves more room for trouble than people care to consider, even assuming it does result in better 'results:' that there's a number assigned to it doesn't imply that the number describes it, let alone encapsulates all that needs to be known about it. When "it" is a soon-to-be doctor's medical proficiency? I sense problems.

Yet more garbage that goes unquestioned... :-\ Maybe it's a love of simplification, especially down to some sort of rating. Maybe it's some kind of competition fetish. Maybe it's these and more. I can't really give a complete solution but I certainly see your point that people should be encouraged to improve rather than encouraged or to whatever degree required to avoid letting anyone see that they need to.

I had very wrong expectations about what "f/accountability" would be about and now I'm afraid and upset and depressed. What the hell. Can't we have anything? Any of us? It's like the whole of the human world is just misery and pain and more (of the same) yet to come.

I don't even know what else to say. I probably shouldn't even post this comment at all, but... I'll just excuse it with 'you made me sad, so there.' I'm sorry, though, if my depressed/depressing comment is problematic.

Yeah, just leave and go somewhere better. What could possibly go wrong? It's not like there are costs or obstacles. People these days are just so lazy, never willing to magically stop having serious problems. /s
