Killing off comments because they're hateful might sound like a good idea. A better one might be to understand that people harbor anger, that they can easily let out in online comments that have little to no real world negative consequences. It might be good therapy if to take all the nonsense in stride.

It seems that chimps can only take so much shit before they turn on the tyrant. This happens sometimes with human rulers, that exceed acceptable limits, except for the eating part.

The link is to a paid program, which might be excellent. I don't know. I don't recommend running anything on a drive that you want to get files off of. Pull the drive (if possible) and connect it to another computer to optimize recovery. You will have good results with Recuva, a free program. The only issue is that, if your hard drive was badly fragmented, you'll get multiple copies of the same photo. I once worked on recovering files on a PC where a kid decided it would be cool to format the hard drive. Over one million files were recovered. They were sorted by size and type to get what the customer wanted. I recall that about 40% of their "important" files were recovered, at a cost. It was strongly suggested that they use a portable hard drive to back up their files and make a drive image monthly.

Unless Microsoft is creating new AI to design smarter bombs and new ways to kill more people, I see their decision as a business one only. They can't control if Word is used to create manifestos, or Publisher to create missives that center on hate and violence. It's pretty much up to the Pentagon to use the cloud service in whatever good or evil way they intend to. They likely use that argument, and also the fact that it prevents Oracle (using servers with AMD Epyc processors) from jumping into the cloud business with a giant splash.

It was a shame when NBC hired this angry loser. I'm surprised that she lasted as long as she did. Not many people liked her show, nor watched it.

The Fed increased the money supply by over 100%, ten years ago, to control the 2008 crash so it didn't become a deep depression. That huge pile of dollars is showing up currency as overvalued stocks, etc. Soon, we may see some serious inflation as the US dollar loses it's user base. With no one to absorb the excess dollars outside the US, inflation could get really bad.

Trump did do something. He admitted on 60 Minutes that global warming exists. The man is great at sidestepping issues. Still, what can FEMA do until the mess is cleared up? I think there is still way too much "faith" in governments ability to help people after a disaster, when it always gets down to local people helping each other.

There is no other continent left where workers will make stuff stuff for a corporation for ten cents an hour. It also removes the tariff issue while increasing Chinese corporate profits. All it costs is to improve the infrastructure and look like good guys to be welcome as the new colonial power in many parts of Africa.
