Yes, case building is a thing. Yes, stores communicate and share photos, info, and methods of operations. This can be formally though ORC joint task forces to ORC bulletins to regional retailers or as informally as one LP sharing photos and identification info on someone that got away.

Most definitely, if you get caught one place and get identified they can share info such as name and ID info with other retailers that may have you as an unidentified party. Same goes for jail websites, they can troll recently arrested photos in hope of identifying those that have gotten away.

Always expect cameras in high theft areas but also expect to be customer serviced in areas without cameras or a blind spot for floor walkers pushing you to places where cameras or a LP can see you conceal.

Short answer is no. Even if their policy does not allow them to go hands on it is not illegal for them to physically detain you in most states. Since you became physical first by pushing the LP your shoplifting charge will probably bumped to robbery. Unless you are damn sure you can get away clean don't get physical because it sounds like they could not go hands on until you did first.

Perfectly legal. You can lock your Facebook down tight but if the people on your friend's list don't you are still vulnerable because your profile will still show on their friend's list. Don't put it past PD or a bored AP/LP to have created fake profiles and start friending known shoplifters in hopes that they can connect cases or identify runners. This is why you should keep a tight friend's list, when you have a hundred any one can make you vulnerable or be a fake.

..Or you are flagged to be watched because you went off at the door and drew attention to yourself by making a scene of lifting your coat to try to prove you have nothing. It could go either way.

If you are under age there is nothing they can do to you. The civil demand should have gone to your parents as they are financially responsible for you by most state's laws.

Some states already have laws on the books that say concealment is theft and you can be stopped before you exit the store.

They likely did not not and even if they did unless you are recognized the case would be dead until they get you identified.

Yes, it is very risky and could cost them their job and a lot more but never underestimate someone that is desperate for a stop. If they work for a company that has a quota they very well could take a leap of faith and if you "get away" during the stop then you are guilty because now they don't have to recover the product because you could have ditched it anywhere. If the LP is unscrupulous enough to file a false statement that they witnessed concealment they are probably not scared to lie under oath and say they saw it should the case go to court.

It is unlikely if they did not see you conceal the item either live or on video but if they see you take something off a shelf, go into a blind spot with the item and come out without it then never underestimate them to take a leap of faith and stop you or call the police if the value of the item is high enough or they are hungering/hurting for a stat. If it is truly is in a camera blind spot they will know it and some people are not above lying and saying they witnessed concealment even the so called keepers of the kingdom.

The civil demand is separate from criminal charges and they can do either or both. Not paying it can lead to credit issues and garnishment but not additional criminal charges. Paying the civil demand has no bearing if the enter your name in the national database they do that regardless, they caught you and you signed a confession that you committed a theft.

Double back on yourself often, stand in blind spots for a few minutes then exit and see who is still in the area, shop in completely different areas multiple times and see if someone is always there. In the end there is no surefire way they may know the store so well they can stay hidden and you never see them, there may be a team and one watches you in one area while the other (or more hangs back) or they have cameras that cover you and you never see the LP until you are walking out the door. You just can't know.

The smart ones use expired or empty containers of milk, ice cream, and eggs for just this reason.

Grab and runs from Dillard's are a real possibility just be aware that they often have outdoor cameras, their cameras are as good at Target's , if you have as car waiting outside on the curb chances are they will notice, and depending on the store they employ either off duty cops or third party security to patrol their floors, and make their stops while the camera operator directs everything.

It depends on who is on cameras and how good the employee is in juniors. They have some of the best cameras but they don't pay the person in the camera room as much as the off duty cop or leased security guard so they don't attract worthy talent to the job that could catch them the most people. Also don't sweat case building the left hand often does not know what the right is doing. Look at the state of the dressing room if clothes are left without being picked up chances are the person in that area is not any good. If you are comfortable working with a friend then go in seperately and don't even acknowledge each other. Take clothes in and wait. Have your friend bring you what you want to steal stuff it in your bag and bring out everything you took in and leave the store. When your friend comes out even if they stop her she can deny everything she has nothing.

Depends if you get identified by some means. Some retailers will still file charges which could lead to a warrant or a summons to appear in court.
