I'd like to buy an electric car, but I also don't like my car to be overdependent on electronics and software. It's hard to find a car that meets both these criteria.

Why are people even people listening to Grimes's boyfriend about stuff like this?

I'm not trying to attack the greatest witchpop icon of a generation, it's just that I don't think dating her qualifies you to make claims about epidemiology....

Since the industrial revolution, production of goods has moved more and more from a labour-based mode to a capital-intensive mode, and one interesting side-effect of this is a general deskilling.

Skills and crafts that haven't been totally killed off are kept alive by a handful of people, when there used to be a significant chunk of the population who were good tailors and cobblers and gardeners and that.

It's nice to have your own little home or farmstead. It assures you that you will be materially secure and your loved ones will too. It gives you a reason to take care of the property, so that the material basis of society/means of production get well-maintained, which is kinda sorta important.
