Another thing i like to do if you dont end up going through with the grocery store thing- i bring a purse usually into dg and loading it up, going to the car and heading to the next dg (emptying the purse into the car probably into grocery bags or something) or going to a bunch of cvs'es or rite aids/ dollar tree/ etcetc. Unsure if you can go in with a purse and seem nonsus to them but in whatever event good luck, you.

When i worked it was just one. Quit because of stalking/ managers refusing to do anything for my own safety. One more reason why capitalism needs to die.

I imagine that could set it off still but regardless of that they tend to be made of really tough ass plastic. using a knife would likely A: get you caught because it would be loud as fuck and would take a very long time and a lot of struggle to cut a hole into...

and B: you'd probably end up cutting yourself in the process or something.

the s3 keys are more worth it in my opionion so long as you never get caught with em.

i mean one could always hold the rfid well above the towers, keeping the towers from going off, but that would also look rather suspicious to hold merchandise out in full view i guess. "wink"? theres also the method of lining one's purse with four layers of aluminum, however if you're caught with this (what is known as a "booster bag") your charge automatically goes up to felony. A criminal would be well off to cover their bases. A beeping tower is among the fastest ways to get caught. Not bothering to take proper precaution is thinking like a cop's next paycheck.

Discussing other ways AROUND that specific problem without having to remove tags is thinking outside the box, but i haven't exactly seen you make any suggestions.

never said anything about being "super anxious about tags"- but every tag needs be removed before leaving the store. You want to be invisible as possible from start to finish in most cases.

I don't like the idea of telling anyone that stealing might not be for them just because theyre nervous the first time- although it is a rather valid point that being too nervous will get you caught. My suggestion would be to do a "test run" in a dollar general first if you're THAT nervous. walk in with cash. bring a drink of some sort/ something they don't carry preferably. when walking around the store take a few drinks here and there. throw your head back as you do so. use this angle to your advantage to get a look at the cameras on the ceiling. take note of the layout and what the clerks are doing. notice how calm the store is and that no one rlly gives a shit what youre doing... then buy something and leave. I did that to scope out a bunch of stores before I started lifting and after doing so my nerves nearly calmed themselves.

I almost never plan much ahead (unless im looking to get anything over $100 generally and not always then either necessarily?). I dress up and grab my purse/tools/ giant energy drink can and usually just fuckin wing it.

^^^ seconded on the "don't allow anyone to take you to a private room if caught" actually. there have been more than enough reports of physical and sexual assaults it's disgusting.

as for advice- I wouldn't exactly advise you to take yugioh cards from the front of the store/near the registers, all the way to the BACK of the store just to conceal them. or at least, I would suggest grabbing a cart and a few other items on the way back there just to look a little less sus (you could literally ditch the cart in the middle of an isle they wont bat an eye really). as for detagging the boxes, you definitely SHOULD but never just remove the boxes either then you're leaving evidence.

in the future I would suggest THOROUGHLY CHECKING EVERY SINGLE THING YOU HAVE for tags before leaving. inside AND outside of packaging if possible. after concealing for example you could've headed to a bathroom or used a fitting room for purposes of detagging (js don't use bathrooms for concealing). Otherwise you actually did really good. I've watched some people be dumb as absolute fuck in front of me trying to steal before- it's also especially impressive that you left when you did and knew to just keep walking.

i mean never gone after drinks but im certainly not above coke fueled escapades (if I have the cash to splurge on it)… keeps me energized and alert and should I need to talk circles around some poor SA to keep them distracted/ entertained it certainly isn't difficult.
