I think I understand what you are saying. The "home" situation itself was the problem, secluding the residents from general society? I feel that way some days about schools where I teach, like they are functioning to keep teenagers off the streets and out of the way whereas I would rather see society accept teenagers and allow them to join society, contribute, move freely, etc. But they are kept in school while parents are at work. It infantilizes teenagers in my view. Anyway, thanks for the contribution!
