It varies based on the way the city government works. Here in my city we have district commissioners and two at large that serve all districts. I am going for an at large commissioner office position. City commissioners are the ones that create committees that over see certain municipal or other city relevant institutions, and create, repeal, redefine, ordinances.

Honestly, there are a few things that need to be done to ease the pain of the working class, poor, and further marginalized population of my city. And that's not gonna happen in the interim, short of revolution. Examples, highest utilities in the state with the munipalites passing failed business decisions losses to the general population($600 US for electricity, water, trash removal, recycling services, happens a few times a year for many folks.) There is a large homeless population here as a result and the criminalization of them is not only costing the city more with an increased police presence, but an anarchist friend of mine runs an organization to combat homelessness here in a way that is benificial to those that are houseless and the community as a whole. I wouldn't be the first anarchist to run or be elected to office in the state BTW.

From organizing work that I have done I can say one thing, and it's always stood the pass and has made me even more so an anarchist, those that are directly effected will always have better ideas, better ways of dealing with it, and if you're in the way you're comradery doesn't mean shit cause they need accomplices. Don't be a colonial imperial fucker. Just help!

What do the people around you really need? Or more importantly the marginalized disadvantaged around you, what do they need?

About twice a year, where I am, me and about 8 others pool money to do a brake/tail light check and free replacement for, not only POC but also the working poor, anyone that needs it. Because the cops are the most violent gang in America and operate with almost perfect immunity. Let's do our best to keep these people safe.

There is always something more to do. Don't let that sound exhaustive, it's not meant too. As always, a diversity of tactics is necessary. As someone who got involved in anarchism and activism in the 90's through Anti Racist Action, what attracted me was the fact that it was extremely hands on and accessible. Direct action and mutual aid at the core of its operating, and that's what what made it so effective. I spent 3 years roaming around the Midwest and southern US setting up new chapters and helping smaller, already existing, ones get organized and running effectively. I've seen a lot of comparisons over the past 5 years or so comparing antifa and ARA. I don't think that is entirely accurate as antifa is more of an idea that groups and individuals participate in blocs or other actions for mainly defense purposes. As with ARA, we operated more like the black panthers did, confederated groups working in tandem, running food drives for marginalized communities, car repair and maintenance clinics, as well as putting the proverbial(and literal) boot to the racists boneheads. Look around there is always something to do to combat this shit that's more meaningful than waving a sign and singing kumbaya.

I would imagine that most of us here are anarchists. Anarchism as a whole is reliant on science to further prove our ideologies. The behavioral biologist Dr. Robert Sapolsky has written extensively about forced hierarchical social structures regarding humans and also baboons, pointing out that thier hierarchical situation is one that is cultural and not only can be dissolved but has been in certain troops, resulting in a more egalitarian troop of baboons that tackle aggressive alpha male behavior from new comers and shut the shit down. Im gonna assume what you are referring to as science is the BS pseudo science that merely supports those in power like social Darwinism. Also I doubt any of us are opposed to doctors other than the fact that professions as a whole are not a human trait. That shit is serfdom and a perpetuation of capitalisms continuation. Modern medicine is bullshit, it has more to do with making money than healing or preventing issues in people. Plus some of what has worked for 100 thousand years medicinally is now shunned by drug manufacturers though the same plants are used to make their pills. Do some research.

Anarchism doesn't need more devisive meetups. This shit always aggravates me. Structuring shit so that it fits your main interest and ideas of anarchism is counter productive to what the central core of it actually is. This shit turns, not only other anarchists away but possible future anarchists.

Fair. Programmatically yes. But quality and simply mutual aid reigns Supreme in this environment. Share always articles that align with far left, usually anarchist ideas as that's the crux of what's here, and engage with other posts.
