The kumquat is something to behold! Once I spent about an hour just eating those from an organic shop's compost dumpster. I just kept eating them and couldn't stop after the first one.

Amazing vid! On equally amazing jazz music. I just find the combination weird, but maybe it's just due to jazz being so rarely used for such intense, socially-critical visual content. I would have thought of maybe some industrial EBM, noise or something.

I'd like to read a deeper analysis of the situation that takes into consideration the recent, unprecedented diplomatic shift between the Saudi regime and Iran, as this is extremely relevant to Israel and these despotic moves by Netanyahu and the related protests are happening exactly within this context.

Dunno if this is what you're referring to, but the 3 Laws of Robotics have not been applied yet, as far as drones are being built and used to harm and kill humans. Neither Microsoft or the MIT dorks got a reason to care about it, as for them AI and drone development only means more profits/career advancements.

Perhaps these very brilliant techies will need some major slaughter or nightmare situation for them to get a grip on reality.

It's debatable, but I think water is more powerful than fire. Water... or lack thereof.

Still nothing was found to be as cheap and ubiquitous as water to keep some crucial components cool enough for these machines to work. Quantum computers are even worse, as they require to freeze the processors in order to operate at quantum scale.

As long as they aren't insane enough to create a self-contained, 100% autonomous supercomputer like in the film Colossus, the Forbyn Project, then there's always possibility to just unplug the damn machine.

I once tried Gentoo and found it to be an odd, sassy way to render a PC unusable ;)

And I wonder why would someone go for Gentoo instead of a more easygoing system with apparently similar levels of security like FreeBSD

System76 are the finest Linux laptops out there, with the best specs, but pricey too. I think the Pinebook Pro is fine due to being cheap and good quality.

But realize buying new -regardless of Linux- is putting pressure on logistics and hardware production across the globe, so it's wiser to get a good used laptop.

Like others said, the majority of Linux distros will work out-of-the-box with any laptop. Just install one to a USB key with Rufus and you're there. You might have to install Nvidia drivers in some machines, but that's it. Some distros got installers that are way easier and flexible than the Windows installer.

By principle any anarchist compass starting with "The..." has got something sectarian, coz it's one or several persons alleging to have this golden knowledge of True Anarchism, or the whole political spectrum.

But ok, sure... if it's that's tongue-in-cheek or sarcastic I don't see how it really is.

Nowadays /r/CompleteAnarchy are about the same internet despots we got over /r/Anarchism, and yea this meme's removal is obviously related to the joke on them in that graph.

These developments could have far-reaching implications in our understanding of how the human visual system works and may also help to tease out the connection between computer vision models and our visual system."

Yeah. Despite these grandiose breakthroughs the blind still gonna be blind... >:(
