I decided I was gonna try something like this...just got the scam email and responded:

I,m Oscar Smith and a legal counsel to the late Engr Brad, i,m contacting you based on a mutual benefit inheritance transaction of US$4.7m of my late client Engr Brad, your relative, who deposited such huge funds in the bank before his demise. Please contact me for the full details of the inheritance claim. Kindly note that this transaction requires utmost trust, sincerity and confidentiality for its conclusion.
I look forward to your reply and co-operation.
Best Regards

Oscar Smith

My reply:

Dear Oscar - or is it Scar? The emails in your signature seem to show the latter. Maybe it's just a really cool nickname?

Anyway, I'm stunned to hear about the passing of my dear great-uncle Engr. I hadn't heard from him in years, and last I'd heard, he had joined a circus in Luxembourg in an attempt to make a name for himself - leaving his beloved, but ill fated tadpole farming operation behind. Judging by the sizable amount of money he'd deposited, it sounds like the venture was a resounding success!

I do have a couple questions: You appear to be sending an email from someone named Belle Whan. Does Belle know you're using their account? If you're having problems with your own email, perhaps I can help with that. I'm pretty good with computers. Before Uncle Engr left, I had always taken care of computer related issues for him. He wasn't very good with computers.

Also, can the amount be converted into Dogecoin before you send it? I'd always wanted to go off the grid, and this great windfall could just be the jump start I've always needed!

Warm Regards,
Engr's favorite nephew.

We'll see how this goes....

Got a reply:

Attn : Beneficiary

I write to acknowledge your message , the contents are noted . I want you to file for this inheritance claim as urgent as possible , I received your information from the family database , and I will present you as the next of kin to my late client , all applications must be submitted as urgent as possible or else the bank will move the money to the Governments Treasury , I guarantee you that everything is 100% risk free , though capital intensive but if we work as a team and keep all dealings strictly confidential, I will assure you that we will receive this money within 8 banking days.

Endeavor to treat this matter as urgent .

I will appreciate if you send me your mobile number for easy communication .

Regards

Oscar Smith

Response:

Belle/Oscar

You didn't answer my questions.

P.S. It appears that Belle was cut out of the replies. I've added them back in so they don't miss any important details. It's imperative in matters concerning such large sums of money that everyone stays on the same page!

You did not say that earlier - that's why I offered to help! Also, what about the Dogecoin question?

Forgive my being blunt, but I hope that this isn't going to be a pattern in our business dealings. I'm a very busy person, and I simply will not have time to have to send multiple emails asking the same questions.

Matters such as these require clarity and strong communication!
