This forum for the past few months has become predominantly filled up with schadenfreude/spite-based content. I may be in the minority here, but I don't really get off on schadenfreude. Knowing that scum an ocean away are having a bad time doesn't really feel "upbeat" or "uplifting" to me.

I feel it'd be best if the content on this forum were split between two different forums: one for the spite and one for wholesome, positive (political) news. I'd like to see more success stories and wholesome news posted, and I think splitting this forum may encourage that.

I don't really want to tell people what not to post, I just think the schadenfreude posts are crowding out other sorts of content.

I sometimes post stuff that could be interpreted as my enjoying another's suffering, like my recent post about Bolsonaro potentially having skin cancer. Just wanted to say that I see no use in enjoying people's suffering and that's not what I posted it for. I genuinely think it's a good thing that he might die. Since he's fashy and he may die, I consider it uplefting - though maybe not uplifting? Maybe that's where I'm interpreting things differently.

I've thought about it more and I think it is because I've taken the forum to just mean good news for anticapitalists ("uplefting"), rather than uplifting news, and that there's a distinction there. It might be worthwhile to focus the forum on uplifting stuff or to create another forum for uplifting stuff, since most of this stuff seems to be uplefting.

My interpretation of "uplefting" is more uplifting news about or involving anti-capitalists. News of successful direct action, shows of solidarity, recent achievements by activists, etc. Uplifting stuff we're actually responsible for, that's what I really find "uplefting".

Bolsonaro potentially dying of cancer may be good for anti-capitalists (assuming he's not just replaced by the next fascist in line), but it's not like he was assassinated - it's just him randomly suffering a hit.
