We are what we say we are and what we say we are changes depending on the audience and the mood.
We show a different face to one friend than we show to another because we relate to them differently.
We present a manufactured image of ourselves to the world everyday and there's no reason that image need be consistent; because our thoughts aren't consistent. Our reality isn't consistent.
The idealized version of ourselves we show the world on social media is no more idealized than any other version of ourselves. There is no 'real' version of who we are.
We are everything and we are nothing.
Life isn't an unchanging picture; a snapshot of a moment in time and space. A personality is a temporary construct that we create to relate certain ideas and process certain experiences.
Creating and shedding personas is something everyone does to make sense of the world around them. I don't see why anyone should be ashamed of appearing to be 'phony' because they manifest themselves differently at different times.
None of us are real. Our reality is created by our egos to make existing more palatable.
I often talk to myself with different voices to make sense of things. They're all my voices even though they often conflict. Having one voice and one mind sounds like a big limitation to put on yourself.
