I've been working on Advent's Amazing Advice for well over a year now! Thanks to all the support of my Patrons, I'm finally in the position where I can add someone to the team to lighten the load of prepping! With their assistance, I'll be able to expand the ways I can help everyone!
In order to find the perfect person, I'm creating a contest. The rules are simple. The person who can prep a One-Shot in a style most similar to mine will be the winner. I'll be judging this based on the following:
Main Criteria
The One-Shot that contestants will be working on will be The Delian Tomb. I've chosen this one because it's short, has multiple versions, and is made for beginners to D&D. How you choose to prep will allow me to see how well you can get into the mind of a new DM; ensuring they have all the tools at their disposal to run an Amazing session!!!
Not only will the winner be joining the team*, but there will be prizes! Additionally, if 2nd and 3rd place impress me enough with their quality, they might just find themselves being called up to collaborate in the future!
Prizes
Deadline - 1/15/24
If this sounds like something you're interested in, you can get started by downloading the Contest Resources by Clicking Here or Here. Once you've finished, you can upload your files to Google Docs and send an email with the link, as well as to the YouTube playlist that you created!

For those of you who haven't seen my work before, you'll find an example of my Into Ivy Mansion prep in the Contest Resources Pack. I've also included additional examples of my prep below.
Position Info
Pay: I’m offering the same amount that I charge for commissions, so $100 for each One-Shot Prepped; with up to a bonus $100 for each completed project based on how closely the person can match my style. If the person is good enough, then they’ll eventually be able to switch over to receiving a percentage of all profits from Advent’s Amazing Advice instead! Payment is via Venmo, but other ways can be worked out if needed!
Content Production/Hours: - I’m looking for someone who can fully prep between 1-2 One-Shots a month, you can choose when, where, and how to complete the work! I’ll be guiding the person to match my style and be there to help with anything that pops up along the way.
I can't wait to see how this turns out and I'm so excited to have the chance to be able to do something like this. Thank you all so much, without you, I could never have imagined coming this far! If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask!
Cheers,
Advent
* Joining the team is contingent on producing high-quality content and being a person others would want to work with!

]]>I get it, DMing for the first time can be scary, you might not even know where to start. The prep alone can seem like a mountain to climb. You find a cool-looking One-Shot open the PDF or book and just think to yourself, how in the heck do I turn this into an actual session?
Well, I've got you covered! I want as many people out there as possible to experience the Amazing world of D&D and most importantly DMing! I've taken the following One-Shots and Mini-Campaigns and fully prepped them so you can run an unforgettable session with ease! The best part, all of it's free for you to use!
Let's dive in:
A Most Potent Brew: This One-Shot brings together a group of rookie adventurers on a classic quest; clearing out a cellar from some rats. Things take an unexpected turn though and lead them to their first dungeon! This level-one One-Shot will take your players into the depths of a brewery, that turns out to be connected to an abandoned mage tower basement. Will your players survive their first adventure slaying giant rats, centipedes, and more?
Coming in at approximately 2-3 hours of play, this is the perfect one shot for both new players and DMs to show what D&D is all about, without being an overwhelming 6hr+ session!

The Wild Sheep Chase: This One-Shot is on par with some of the craziness that you can experience in Baldur's Gate 3! Your party will be enjoying a relaxing time at a tavern when a sheep suddenly bursts in and grants them a scroll that allows them to speak with each other. Your players will go on an epic chase, face off against polymorphed guards, and even fight a dragon...made out of a bed!? You can't make this stuff up...oh wait!

Dragons of Stormwreck Isle: This Mini-Campaign is for when you're ready to step things up and want a more serious Adventure. You'll go from level 1-3 learn of the history of Stormwreack Isle and face off against...you guessed it a dragon!

The Lost Mine of Phandelver: This Mini-Campaign spans from levels 1-5, the only thing past this would be a full-blown campaign, but let's not get ahead of ourselves! This one is a classic, the very first starter set that WotC released and it stands the test of time, Heck, they're making an expansion for it coming out later this month! You'll face not 1 but 2 dragons, explore deadly dungeons, save a town, and live out all of your heroic fantasies! When you've done a one-shot or two I couldn't recommend running this more!

If none of those tickle your fancy I've got over 2 dozen more sessions fully prepped and ready to go for you, here's a preview of what else I have to offer!

]]>Murmur wandered into Avernus trying to find what his font of divine magic was, hoping to increase his own power to be able to perform larger revival spells he saw going for BIG BUCKS in the temples he grew up in. He unfortunately was too good for his own good, and quickly found himself bound to a night hag. He was sent to the Wandering Emporium to run Ruthless Potions, where he is bored out of his mind.
]]>Whatever the reason, prep may seem like a mountain to climb. Well, allow me to help you! I remember when I was first trying to figure everything out and I stumbled across A Wild Sheep Chase. It's a fantastic One-Shot by Winghorn Press that you can get for free over on the DMsguild. The only issue at times can be how do I convert this pdf into an actual session?
Some DMs have a gift, they can read it once and go from there, some are masters at improv, storytelling, and off-the-cuff humor. Well, I unfortunately don't fit that boat and I'm sure many others out there are just like me. I need a ton of notes; because once I've got things organized, then I feel comfortable taking things in new directions.
So welcome to Advent's Amazing Advice! The series where I take popular One-Shots, Adventures, Campaigns, etc. and fully prep them for both New and Busy DMs. This prep includes fleshed-out notes, music, ambiance, encounter sheets, handouts, battle maps, tweaks, and more so you can run the best sessions possible with the least stress possible! Onboarding new DMs should be easy and I hope with this I can help grease the wheels!

]]>Last week's poll landed on a tie again, so I flipped a coin: For this week, the PbtA family of systems! This includes Apocalypse World, Dungeon World, Monster of the Week, Flying Circus, World Wide Wrestling, Ironsworn, MASKS, City of Mist, The Sprawl, Thirsty Sword Lesbians, etc.
What's your experience with this family of games, or a particular game in the family? What do you think of them? Let us know!
]]>Sorry everyone, I never actually posted the poll last week, I forgot. So instead, I just picked a D&D edition.
Dungeons & Dragons Basic/Expert! This 1981 edition of the game is the version widely adapted, remixed, and played in the OSR scene, with retroclones like Labyrinth Lord and Old School Essentials.
What are your experiences or opinions on B/X? Are you curious about the game? Leave a post!
]]>The Lost Mine of Phandelver is a classic, one of the very first Mini-Campaigns that new DM's run. Hell, it's part of the starter set after all! The issue though, as with many other Campaigns, is that it doesn't describe the best way to transform the contents of the book into an actual session. The Book to session conversion can be difficult. Between figuring out when things should happen, to understanding motivations and even balancing encounters.
Well fortunately for you 99% of that work is done! Only a few things are really left:

]]>This week, the Generic Universal RolePlaying System, GURPS. What's your experience with the game? What are your opinions on it?
Personally, I've never played it, but I've always been fascinated with it. I known the 1986 box set of the original edition, even.
The weekly poll for next game will come later!
]]>With all that said, let's get posting! I'm excited to see your characters!
]]>Last week unfortunately ended on a tie for game votes, so I flipped a coin between Pathfinder 1e or GURPS; Pathfinder it is, this week!
I have a lot of experiences with Pathfinder. It was my first Tabletop RPG. I haven't learned it inside and out or anything, but the game is a very comfortable place for me as a result. It has a LOT of systemic issues-- but for me, it's the definitive version of the D&D style Roleplaying game.
But what do you think of Pathfinder 1e? Too complex? Your favorite game? Let's talk!
Edit: I forgot the poll for this week. Here it is!
