How much of a flaw is it that Starfleet, the military, has such a big role in Federation foreign, and even domestic policy? (Delta quadrant parasite conspiracy from TNG that I won't blame anyone for not considering canon, Starfleet coup, Admirals seem to negotiate and sign treaties, like with the Cardassian border war and Dominion War)

What about planets other than Earth that seem like they have money and capitalist markets? (Bajor, also other Federation citizens besides just Starfleet personnel living under mixed jurisdiction like DS9 seem to have latinum in DS9, Federation credits mentioned in TNG)

What does the Prime Directive even mean and how much should it actually matter? Is there a way to resolve the apparent contradiction that it was ok to give low effort to help the self-determination of Bajor, the Vorta, the Jem'Hadar, and the Remans but also good to keep the balance of power by supporting the Detapa Council against the Klingon invasion? (Dominion War obviously. I know this is kind of the point of that arc.)

What about abandoning the descendants of Native Americans around the Cardassian border?

I have never seen Star Trek: Insurrection, so that's why I'm glossing over it.
