I like when people give a genuine try in imagining alternatives, and even if I disagree with "technical solutions for non-technical problems" I can't help but admire some stuff.
That said, I would not change Slab City over Arcosanti for anything, and the reason is simple: people. If you don't engage meaningfully with people the project will die.

Not in my opinion, marketing has nothing to do with engaging people in the project, marketing is promoting a product not an idea. If you want to sell your idea than you got a product.
I was considering both projects as non profit seeking ones.

The pessimist in me thinks it’s just an expensive art project. What is arcology if it is only practiced in a town surviving off of tourism around arcology?
Afaik Arizona is one of the easiest places to build carbon-neutral earthships (did I get the name right?) and expensive architectural projects that aim to do same thing seems like green-washed high art vacation destination.
