Supposedly its about believing in something “higher than yourself” not necessarily a religious thing, but I've heard that a lot of 12 step recovery groups are very christianity centric. Talked to someone about what i would do if i were an atheist that wanted to try one of these programs they basically said just make it about “an idea that you can hold yourself accountable to”, this was just casual conversation though, i’m quite secure in my relationship to subsistences

I mean it was born out of the oxford group so it has explicitly Christian origins.

Though its founder was also into spirits and did seances and thought the spirit of st boniface was helping him out. He also thought lsd would be helpful in overcoming alcoholism. (he basically became sober after having a vision so he saw lsd as an easy way to recreate vision experience in others.)

idk, just a random info dump i guess.

Psychedelics are useful in treating addiction, depression, and trauma when combined with therapy.

Or, without therapy. In my experience anyway. I don't like tripsitters anyway but especially would not like a therapist to do that.

Yeah, but there is no power higher than the self. They are all spooks.

What about a volcano? Or any mountain? Or myself in four hours when I am much higher than now? How to reconcile present less high self and future more high self and ideal highest self if a volcano can still erupt above any of uaaas and burn me up?

The Self is literally just a simulation of God

Which god?

The literal.

Slight critique- should not Jesus be centerred over the bag of sand in the second frame? Since that is what he replaces the idol with? Would also then allude to the very poor relapse record of AA, since the sandbag does not work- and just triggers the boobytrap.

Yeah, I did it wrong

Np. I did get the gist of it and liked it. Only on closer inspection did the bag vs idol thing pop up.

Another thought i had was, Hey Indy! The drinking was never the issue, it was what you did to Marian Ravenwood and also your self righteous statist grave robberies. How do you fight naaaazzzzziiis? By stealing stuff they want to steal before they steal it and giving it to the us government for safe keeping? Whhhhaaaaatttt?
