Avoid services like Skyecc and Cyphr. While they have not been breached YET they have similar infrastructure and practices.

At the end of the day ANY service that advertises "remote wiping" means your device or at least its account is constantly phoning back to their servers. In the case of Encrochat this was exploited by taking control of a Single Domain name.

Skyecc utilizes consumer grade hardware with no alterations to the device, this is good and bad. Good in that the device remains intact and whole. Bad in that as long as a camera or microphone is physically connected to the board there will be the possibility of gaining access.

As far as their Data Sim oriented services are concerned this just adds another attack surface as seen by SIMJacker, there are numerous more vulnerabilities such as exploits to the hardware of the device or consumer OS like faulty fonts on iOS.

You are much better off using opensource software like Graphene OS or Calyx OS

And utilizing a username ONLY service when applicable. I personally do not like Wickr due to their policies and practices. I recommend Signal as you can utilize any number of voip services for sign up or Briar a p2p messenger that utilizes Tor similar to the now defunct Ricochet project.
