How does it compare to using straight vim? What made you choose emacs?

Having numbered lines were making neovim extremely slow when scrolling. That's it really, I like emacs built-in package installation though. Overall it's bloated and surprisingly slow with copy/pasting and opening files. Been looking at kakoune but I had a hard time configuring it.

Oh I never had any problems with this, what setting do you use in vim? I use:

set number
set relativenumber

I can't remember exactly, set number, a few plugins and that was about it. At first I thought it was the plugins but nope, just the "set number". I don't remember having problem before so it might has been a version that had the bug and they fixed it.

At the same time it led me to try something else, as long as i have vim-keybinding I'm happy.
