I have started to be more active on peach and am trying out this website. Unfortunately, I feel like our user base has been broken and almost feel stranded in the aftermath.

There is also a sense of loss felt with the lack of relatable memes now lol.

So, what subreddits or apps have you become more active on? Have you tried the discord server? I'd love some feedback :)

I've mostly just been on r/EDAnonymous but I saw a few people posting about this site so I figured I would look into it. So far its OKAY but the lack of search feature(at least that I can find) has made it a bit difficult to navigate.

That's a very valid point. I'm on mobile too and it's eh, but I like how it has the upvote feature and how there can be separate threads. The format is similar to reddit which is familiar at the very least.

I'm trying peach but tbh I think the format is garbage and it's hard to have actual conversation. I'm active on Edanonymous but I hate how the admins have strong armed the mods into making a half baked sub.

Yeah, I don't like how I have to open the whole post to see what it is about on peach lol. It feels so messy!

Can you elaborate on what you mean by half-baked?

i had peach for awhile but I honestly found it too ~busy. So I never go on it anymore. I'm nervous to use r/EDAnonymous because I feel like it's going to get shut down soon lol. I like this website, it's just a hassle having a whole different website but it's better than having nothing.

Yeah, peach feels a little.. claustrophobic? Especially since the topics are all over the place it's hard to have a discussion. Also, there's a lot of content I want to see from people I might not necessarily be "friends" with.

I am using r/EDAnonymous so I don't have reddit withdrawal lol. It seems like a good handful of people are there too.

We are fractured for sure, I'm hoping over the next few weeks we can start to come back together (which is why I'mtyig to stay connected everywhere).

Of course I do not trust he reddit admins at all anymore and dont feel safe there now so I hope to God it's not a new subreddit

Yeah, I feel pretty similar in regards to reddit's admins. It was a safe place for so many of us.

What pisses me off is that we were shut down for promoting self-harm, but there are literal self-harm and cutting and gore subreddits that are fine.

Hell, there are even subreddits that promote the harm of others. Or sexually super fucking misogynistic subreddits that were just quarantined...

I'm on EDA and discord. I hope EDA will become the new ProED once the whole situation dies down.

I hope this takes off too, but the subscriber numbers are a little low.

Discord is ok, but I like that reddit is asynchronous. With discord I always feel like I'm entering a conversation that's almost over.

Do you think we should try to promote this site to places like the discord too? Maybe that'll bring some people in. Cuz there were like 40,000 of us.

I just wish I had my sub back. Them taking away people's support systems is not helping anyone get magically cured from their ED lol

Sure. I think this site has been mentioned on both discord communities I'm on.

We also risk looking desperate if we keep nipping at people's heels (so to speak) though. It's a tough balance.

Touché! (I might be a little desperate at this point too lol)

I think we're all desperate!!! I think if we keep building this up and make it really supportive and honest as ProEd and gently remind everyone over at Reddit about our existence people will naturally migrate over.

I am totally happy that Raddle exists--I had never heard of it before. I'm always for disrupting these increasingly authoritarian social media businesses, so this is a nice alternative to Reddit!

I checked out MPA for the first time in two centuries, but it still glitches for me so I've been using EDC(eatingdisordercentral) and MPA(mypancakeaddiction) instead.

Discord which isn’t the same at all. Chatting is great but I prefer to have discussions. I’ve been using ed forums since the mid 90s and I’m just too used to it!!

I'd love discord but it's not very active. I'm on the proED discord though, is there another one?

DisguisedAsMe OP wrote

I'm there too and I feel the same way. I feel like people are just lurking and don't know how to bring stuff up in the middle of a conversation.

With ED topics it takes some confidence to kinda lay it all out there. Especially when only a few people can see it before it gets buried

Unlike many here, I have not tried peach. I’m not really sure what it is. How do I join, and is it worth joining? Also, I was unaware there was a discord server. I’d be interested in that possibly, but I’m unfamiliar with discord and not sure how to join.

What I have been using, however, is Kik. I don’t know how many of you use that, but I actually used it before Reddit. I did start to shift towards Reddit more and away from Kik, but after the subreddit ban, I went back there to find all my old friends there with open arms. It’s a bit more personal than Reddit, but it is a really great platform, if you can find the right groups. I have a few groups that I could invite you guys to, if you’d be interested in joining. :)

So, Peach is an app you get on your phone. It's kind of like a little diary! You connect with people by finding their usernames (there were some peach mega threads recently with people to connect with on EDAnon) and can see what each other post.

I think that it can be fun, but the format is kind of limiting. You only see friends content and there aren't really titles to the posts so they dont go by topic. It can be kind of confusing and things get buried if you have a lot of friends and people dont only use it for ED topics (but a lot do).

If you decide to join tell me your username!

As for the Discord, they aren't letting people join at the moment because there are like 1000 people there and they were having trouble keeping everything under control. They said they will let more people join towards the end of the year/early January!

And I would be interested in joining a Kik group!

Why would they ban this?

Lavender22 wrote

Hi Rot,

Reddit administrators banned r/ProED for “promoting self harm.” I am unaware as to whether you were subscribed, but if you even looked at it, you would instantly be able to tell it was a support community. Anyone could have. This is why many of us are confused and outraged as to why we were banned. Your question is one that we are all asking.

Here, and r/EDAnon. I tried peach a year or so ago, and it just felt messy and disorganized.

I came here to check things out. Just registered, but it’s so small here. I’m going to try to be active to help this community. I still check EDAnonymous. I have a feeling I’ll be going back to MPA in the end.
