the commandment doesn't exactly take love of the self for granted as a natural self-preservative or narcissistic impulse (despite what some evangelicals will tell you) nor does it exactly command self-love as much as it connects a regard for what is holy within yourself with the recognition for what is truly holy in others

and, as i implied in the title of this thread, quakers believe god's light shines within everyone so nice try YOU'RE NOT OFF THE HOOK
