Let's talk about the Raddit Wiki

Submitted by autonomous_hippopotamus in meta (edited )

I'm interested in contributing to the wiki, I have been writing little informational guides in my spare time and think the wiki would be a better place to post them. There they could be edited collectively and added to over time.

My personal interests are:

Security Culture

Tech Related stuff

Insurrectionary Tactics

Propaganda and Communications Strategies

...But i think the wiki in general would benefit from some basic defintions of things like 'accountability' 'consensus building' and things of that nature. Wiki's also offer alot of possibilities in terms of sharing reading materials and sister websites in the footnotes.

This site could also really use an "Introduction to Markdown" page somewhere

Anyway, i'd like to get involved and i'd like to hear from some other people who might want to contribute to this.

I guess my questions are

How do you get involved? What are the submission guidelines? Is there a wiki team? if not, can we start one?

Isn't that what the link under the comment box is? It could be hosted on-site tho.

That guide isn't completely accurate. It's missing strikethrough (text) and it has horizontal line (---) even though that doesn't work here.

Edit: The inline code and code block functions don't seem to work either - strikethrough is 2 of these: ~ on either side of the word.

Horizontal line works

with three asterisks

It's listed there on the Markdown reference page - the two columns show two options for each thing - I've found that if the first doesn't work the second often does.

Haven't had luck with images though - I wanted to put some in the sidebar of forums.

Seems pretty straight forward, I just made a page:

https://raddit.me/wiki/Fascism_Know_Thy_Enemy

So I guess anyone can add to the wiki.

Just go to https://raddit.me/wiki/(InsertYourTitleHere) and write your entry.

Is there a wiki team? if not, can we start one?

Good idea. We can make a list of pages we need and everyone can volunteer to draft some of them.

I'd also support a wiki team, for the purposes of establishing a naming and style convention. Things might get messy otherwise.

ah, thanks for telling me, that little instruction should probably be on the https://raddit.me/wiki/ homepage. Like it said anyone could edit it but it wasn't clear how.

And yeah i suppose the easiest to start a wiki editing sub, maybe /insurwikitionary ...

or just /wiki

I'll add the instructions to the front page.

There are a lot of entries we could copy paste from elsewhere and then refine them. Like the anarchist FAQ for the wiki/anarchism entry.

went ahead and made it at raddit.me/f/wiki/

If anyone else wants to mod, feel free.

I suppose we can migrate the conversation over there.
