I have a problem with the illegalism (counterfeit documents, etc} spam that is popping up. Not only could these posts be used to discredit the site (block it in certain jurisdictions, pull the domain, etc), they probably aren't legitimate and are nothing but doxxing or dragnet campaigns.

While these posts are getting heavily down-voted, they remain up and accessible. Are mods taking actions against them? Are there agreed upon rules to handle these posts? If not, I suggest we decided something.

Send a message to the moderators (or admins, if there are no active moderators) to alert them. That's the best way to report posts until Postmill gets an actual report button.

This works, there's also the meta chat (see w/chat) for reporting these things.

I delete all that junk when I see it, but I don't see all of it. I assume the other admins do the same, and moderators do it for the spaces they curate. None of us want that junk around and so it's de facto policy to get rid of it.

For anybody who isn't aware, there's a global moderation log that can be seen by clicking the link to it in this sidebar.

As yet there isn't a way for the average user to see the global ban list; there are usually a handful per day.

yea, I delete anything I witness as well. Lots of spam no one sees. We've done a good job mostly IMO.

Thanks. I just sent out requests about one new user to both a mod and an admin.

Direct messages can also be abused. There is currently an "ignore user" option that will prevent certain users' direct messages from appearing in your inbox. It'd be trivial to implement the same thing for reports. If someone starts abusing reports, you could prevent their reports from showing up in the moderation queue.

and also this is not facebook or reddit.

Postmill is supposed to mimic the functionality of Reddit.

this kind of culture is fking disgusting.

What culture? What are you talking about?

reporting to authorities

You anarchists and your pathological fear of authority is truly mind-boggling. Do you want to get rid of moderators too, because they have a smidgen of "authority"? Websites that have no moderation at all are quickly overrun by spammers and right-wingers.
