this comment chain got me thinking about what I like a lot about HN: they've got points that are used to sort out comments, and you can see how many points you've got. IDK how it is if you've got more points than a lurker like me there, but in any case I can't see how many points other users' comments have, which is actually quite alright. There's not really too much of a reason to be able to see them, imo.

So my question is: why bother showing points at all? Would it be better or different if they were removed from sight entirely?

You're going to want to edit your link, currently it stacks on top of either the basic clearnet address, https://raddle.me or the onion address http://lfbg75wjgi4nzdio.onion

so it's coming out as https://raddle.me/f/meta/27074/raddle.me/f/CapitalismInDecay/26820/comment/35304 for me

your link should take out the raddle.me part you've typed in and it will work, appending the rest to the base address

e.g. [heres your link](/f/CapitalismInDecay/26820/comment/35304)
which looks like this when actioned: heres your link

Ah, thanks. I'm trying out the .onion address atm but i figured not everyone might be so it'd be easier to point to the clearnet one, didn't know you could do a full link like this too. Thanks!

This can actually be done by simply changing the theme on your user settings, or the theme of a forum.

I just made a theme called No-Point that hides the .vote-score class, and makes all posts/comments appear without scores. A theme like this can be implemented at the user or forum level .

More info on themes: w/Change_Theme

Good point. In that case it might be worth calling a vote on that specific forum to suggest adding hidden scores to the forum's theme. But of course users can override forum stylesheets in their user settings (as is the case with Reddit) so it wouldn't be a strict/permanent solution.

Lol nice. Btw if you want it to override any forum's theme, you'd need to uncheck "Show custom stylesheets".

Also, it'd be pretty easy to add that invisible point style to any theme if you prefer one different to the default.
