While I wouldn't want to have subs with extreme rules differences like "It's okay to be a racist piece of shit here," the idea of merging threads between subs is iffy because different subs may have different communicative norms or ideological perspectives that could make partitioning discussions a reasonable choice.

I'd rather not force carnists into vegan threads or egoists into conversations about actual anarchism, for example. It's bad enough when people like that just go out of their way to tell other people that they're being wrong unsolicited.

If someone involved in two different subs talking about the same thing thinks it would be fruitful to crosslink them, they can probably do that themselves. At most I could see how an automatic reddit-like "Other Discussions" tab could help (even that I'm opposed to unless some economy of scale makes it seem more useful than conscious cross-linking), but I'm definitely against the idea of auto-merging.

Off topic, but........, since when are egoists not "actual" anarchists?

Also, on point, your concerns are valid, which is why I suggested mods be able to remove a thread from just their sub if they don't think it fits to a tag the poster gave it.

Well Stirner wasn't an anarchist, and egoist spaces (including f/egoism) have increasingly moved to distance themselves from anarchism.

So since some egoists aren't anarchist therefore egoist anarchism isn't actual anarchism? By that logic anarcho communism isn't real anarchism either since not all communists are anarchists.

Egoists aren't anarchists. Egoist-anarchists are.

We were talking about egoist anarchists. There's no reason to say non anarchist egoists aren't "actual" anarchists since they're not anarchists at all. So the use if the term "actual" anarchists means we we're talkin about egoist anarchists.

Everyone is an egoist. The question is whether and to what extent they embrace their egoism.

There are quite a few groups I follow on social media who have recently also tried to dissociate with the term, and the reasons usually seem to be really trivial at times.

Then again, I'm an Erisian Zenarcho-Egoist -- so what do I know? Lol.
