Zoocentrism is just as bad as anthropocentrism. I don't support industrial animal agriculture in the slightest, but assuming that plants don't have the desire to not have their non-fruiting bodies consumed due to the absence of a spinal column is a ridiculous notion.

We cause pain in our need to exist. Choosing how we can limit that pain while not denying our ties to the cycle of life is a better path than to prioritize the suffering of one form of life over another, and of denying the latter's capacity for suffering wholesale.
