Winter is officially here, we've gotten over a foot of snow of the past week and that means I will not see grass or anything other than snow or concrete for the next 5-6 months, the days are short enough that because I work two full-time jobs I now only get to see the sun through windows - it is dark before I leave my day job, it's dark when I drive to and from my night job, and it's usually dark when I drive to my day job...so I am gonna have to be consciously better at finding time to get some sunlight and supplement my vitamin D intake - something I didn't do last winter and I think it really dragged me down over time.

My kiddos are doing really well, homeschooling is pretty good, my partner is finishing an electrician's course and preparing to enter a apprenticeship that she's really excited to start, but that means we gotta figure out what to do with our kids - it might mean having to put them back into public school, which we are both a bit apprehensive of, but we feel pretty trapped. If we were able to support ourselves some way other than capitalism I would gladly quit my jobs and homeschool them, but I'm the main earner and our family is not in a position to be able to let go of that income - especially before we buy a house and some land.

I'm rambling. The important things are going well, capitalism continues to be a hellscape that is literally killing me, but what else is new?

So you want to see the sun more but you're not. That's not as enjoyable as it could be for you. Maybe you can change things around. There's no capacity for change you have? Entirely none? Life components spelled out to a "T"? lol For me, I've been focusing on the government and policies that are not ideal. This has been on my mind. The government throws a lot of resources in discussion about climate change and it's not a real issue. It doesn't alter anything. It's a waste considering alternatives of money use. Change would be great. What do you think? Very useful money expenditure? lol

Well, it's dark when I drive to work and dark when I drive home from work. If it's not overcast at lunch I might be able to get a few minutes there, but that's pretty hit and miss, so yeah, there's some limiting factors at play here.

Climate change isn't a real issue? Or government programs to halt climate change are weak and feckless?

The garden probably grew an equal volume of parsnips as it could have squash— next year, I expect more of the same, considering the two dry second-year stalks looming over from the meadow.

Never mind what I said recently about aspen wood and ink. Pens made from aspen will turn to mush within a few days.

That's great that you can grow plants. You can control how nutritious they are to some degree. You can have a healthier future by your own actions. That's fantastic, that's a great position to be in with that option. lol Do other people want gardens? I do. I hugely do. I'd like fresh fruit and vegetables and the option to control how healthy they end up causing me to be through work. I want that stuff, I will get it one day. It's basically destiny. lol Based.

Last night, my partner sat me down and told me I need to get her a Baby Yoda plushie. Damn.

I settled for fedora and I've been enjoying somewhat how much effort it is to make an everyday OS out of it. Ubuntu was making things too easy for me.

On the other hand, after several hours of reading and investigation I learned that there's no driver for my wifi chip and workaround are hacky and unsupported.

No auto rotation for KDE either, only gnome. I'm not going back there.

Luckily, I already had one that I bought for my now non functioning desktop. Sadly it only has 2 USB ports which make heavy work difficulty.

Turned in a project thinking I'd end up with partial credit and ended up with full marks; classes will end in a few days, with finals in a week or two. Looking forward to heading home for Thanksgiving break, even if I will have to come back here to my cage after a few days to fail take care of my finals before taking the 3 hour trip back home again.
