Firstly, the pyramid of debate is the core value of saidit and is the basis of the administration. We at saidit value people who raise discussions upward on the pyramid of debate, and aren't too keen on people who repeatedly drag discussion downward.

https://saidit.net/static/debatepyramid.jpg

You can already see why the saidit experience is so superior to reddit, voat and raddit just from this excellent graph.

The second thing we have going for us is the lack of a downvote function. So a dedicated minority group cannot re-shape the site at large to their own desires nearly as easily (like what happened to Voat and Raddit). Voat even added restrictions where if you've been downvoted you cannot downvote others. It sped up the echo-chamber feedback-loop effect and let these extremists take over the mainstream culture of a site much more quickly. Now a dissenting voice of reason stands out like a sore thumb, and is downvoted to hell.

Saidit doesn't have these locking-out features because we don't have downvotes, and we're careful to avoid "improvements" to the algorithm that actually just speed up the feedback loop that creates an echo-chamber culture. Furthermore one group cannot brigade another, because there is no downvote, and also they must abide by the pyramid of debate or be banned from saidit. So the only remaining way to "brigade" is to argue one's point rationally.

Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, the admins actually care. Our site used to be called antiextremes.com, specifically referencing avoiding the extremes of reddit (censorship, SJW supermods), voat (far-right) and raddit (extreme left). It's literally our declared mission to avoid becoming voat / reddit / raddit, even right in our original name. The admins are both dedicated centrists and will not allow any extreme political ideology to take over, whether left or right.

The reason reddit went bad is because the admins turned a blind eye (or perhaps were paid to) while brigading and astroturfing groups took it over, subreddit by subreddit until the whole site was manipulated and programmed by deep-pocketed Soros types.

Voat however failed because the admins just let whoever take it over. They had no ideological backbone, no pyramid of debate, no nothing. Just an empty space for anyone who has enough free time to go absolutely nuts and create their own echo chamber. And that's exactly what happened.

Raddit went bad because of bad, untrustworthy admins who don't value the pyramid of debate or a diversity of opinions and push their violent, extreme left positions while silencing more reasonable voices with bans, slander and flame wars.

At saidit, we actually learn from the failures of lesser sites and try our best to avoid them.

So you can see our approach is multifaceted, and we think we have a very good chance at avoiding the fate that befell reddit, voat and raddit. It won't be easy, but I believe we can do it. If we work together.

Think of SaidIt like a classy restaurant or nice place. Every once in a while we may dip into crass humour but we don't dwell in the gutter like the people on other sites.

We at saidit understand that divide and conquer keeps people fighting each other instead of fighting the establishment ruling over them.

It's why subreddits like /r/enligtenedcentrism exist, where they basically make fun of anyone who is not a liberal extremist. And they've poisoned the phrase "both sides" by associating it with reactionary idiocy.

The goal now on all 3 of these failed sites is to get rid of all the moderates, so only extremists exist anymore.

Basically, they want control. And the good way to get it is by controlling the minds of others, and the best way to do that is to destroy any moderates and any moderate conversations. Thus from the naive standpoint, the options seem to become "literally nazis, or the sane people". And of course then the latter is the obvious choice. They want everyone thinking like this.

And everyone who refuses to think like this, will now become "the bad guys who are shunned by society". And things just keep polarizing.

We especially see this here on raddit because of its totalitarian admins. If you censor something that someone is saying, that to them makes them even more sure they are true. And as you censor anything even slightly right wing from being said, the people you censor start going further and further right. And then you are left with only extreme left and far right and nothing in between. This is raddit's agenda - to create extremes so there can be an unending bloody brawl between the two extremes with no room for diversity of thought or moderation.

We at saidit understand it's best just to allow everyone to say things and disprove them with facts if they are wrong, but the extremist types can't do this, so reddit / voat / raddit just censor and create a toxic environment where only one of the two extremes they create is acceptable.

On reddit, the SJWs have been lead to believe that nazism is coming back so they need to censor everyone, but that is simply them being manipulated by the globalists that control reddit. Free speech is banned.

Voat is free speech in name only. The karma system inhibits participation from minority opinions. It's also very discouraging to get dogpiled by dozens or even hundreds of downvoats when asking honest questions and hoping for an answer. You get no answers, aside from "SHILL DETECTED" and such. Free speech is banned.

Raddit is the full enactment of globalist's desires. It hates free speech, moderate arguments, reason, logos. It punishes wrongthink and rewards unthinking violent rhetoric. It labels everyone who isn't on the extreme left a "nazi" and promotes violent terrorist acts to "deplatform" the "nazis" who are more often than not, just regular Joes like you and me.

Saidit is something fresh. We don't ban free speech. We encourage real debate. We encourage thoughtful, moderate positions rather than extremes. Join us.

One more thing I forgot to mention: We're run by donations. Not advertiser revenue or big secret investors. This means we have zero incentive to get rid of certain messages to please our advertisers and investors, because we have none other than community donations. We do not plan to ever change this funding model because saidit is run for the community, not for profit. You can donate to us with a variety of methods:

How did you sucker people into paying every month for a service no one even needs? That site has nothing people can't already get on r/neoliberal or r/radicalcentrism. So what niche are you serving? Since when are centrists unable to use mainstream social media?

It's sentences like these, lol.
The irony that you think we see everyone as nazis when you see us as totalitarian globalists is not lost on us, especially when probably the two most active admins are both non-left anti-authoritarians. Your inability to differentiate between a massive range of 'left' positions is why you think there is "no room for diversity of thought". I think it's just remarkable that you start of with a drawing of a pyramidal hierarchy of valuable contributions to your site, as if you were trying to be a caricature of your position. Then also that you gave it a good thumbsuck for content and called it rational. I like how you sprinkled the word 'logos' in there, like a half-assed philosophy minor trying to be more than you are.

Initially the absurdity of some of the things here felt laughable. In the end I get sad at the thought that you consider yourselves rational. Anyway I encourage people to join saidit if what is said here appeals to them. It will be a great loss to Raddle.

Insults / personal attacks like this are exactly why saidit is such a success (second only to Voat.co according to Alexa) and this site is a toxic wasteland.

We would never allow you on our site if you behaved like this.

I suggest you learn how to engage with people you disagree with in a civil manner without resorting to such hateful petulance.

Just since you don't get it, you've come in here spouting antisemitic talking points re Soros and globalism, from a site that is clearly accepting of antisemitism. As such you're identified by people like me as hostile. So when I respond like this, it is in response to your antisemitism. Of course your site would not allow anybody who has a problem with antisemitism to voice theirselves in ways they deem appropriate. It's exactly this lack of awareness of structural problems (with their also white supremacist and pro-capitalist ideological frameworks) in society that makes you the caricature that you are. Maybe instead of taking the high road (lol) you should rather reflect on why people might be hostile towards you and use it as the grounds to learn something. Or not, we are really not expecting critical thought from rational people like yourself.

I have a few things to say:

It labels everyone who isn't on the extreme left a "nazi" and promotes violent terrorist acts to "deplatform" the "nazis"

“It” is made of a variety of different people— if one person calls another a Nazi, that does not mean everyone is calling them a Nazi. However, in the case that someone calls another a Nazi, it makes sense that it would follow them saying or doing something Nazi-esque or at least bigoted.

who are more often than not, just regular Joes like you and me.

just regular Joes like you and me who are dangerously misinformed and therefore make the world hell for people of colour (and any white friends/family they have) and women (and men, at times,) and transgender and nonbinary people (and their friends and families) and non-humans (and therefore humans) children (and their parents sometimes) and Muslims (and non-Muslims) and the disabled (and their friends and family) and workers and unemployed people and freethinkers (and therefore non-freethinkers) and probably a dozen other groups I forgot to mention
