It looks like it's been offline for about 4 hours-- I just woke up, and the server's drive died, so I'm restoring from a back-up. It'll be up within an hour.

EDIT: It's back up! I restored from a ~four day-old backup, and I tried to restore as much from the failed drive as I could, but you might notice a file or two missing. I'll start making daily incremental backups.
Sorry about the down-time, mates.

Power outage or drive failure? Maybe it died because of voltage surge? it's time to invest in a good UPS so your server doesn't kick the bucket every few days.

It was definitely drive-failure-- it was an HDD, and you could hear it die, jajaja. But I will look into a UPS, it's a good idea.

I'm getting 500 error when uploading pics.

Got that fixed. =w=

coinsh.red is down again. Tried on both Tor and clearnet, no response.

jadedctrl wrote

Yea, I just fixed it. Daemon eating up resources, it's been nuked out of orbit.

Nope, but this is the 3rd time in the past month. Kinda frustrating since we put all our eggs in that basket.

I spoke with jadedctrl about some security issues on coinsh.red. Some of them were never fixed (and allowed for limited server access, which is pretty serious). I wonder if it has anything to do with that.

jadedctrl wrote (edited )

If you're that guy who PM'd me, I took care of those issues immediately. I told you in my response, mate. (Thanks again, btw, for bringing them to my attention)

throwaway OP wrote

Right, but i wrote back to you with some new ways to exploit it, after your patch, which, last time i checked, was still there.

(not that I don't appreciate the work you do on coinshred, it's an awesome site!)

Looks like I was wrong-- I have already taken care of it. I was worried for a second there, haha.

Yea, this has been a bad month. Power cut out for a few hours a couple weeks ago, and then I was setting up a firewall the other week for about an hour.

For the moment, maybe y'all can try using https://img.ikrypto.club? It's ran by a cool anarchist internet person :3

Does it remove EXIF data from photos?

3

transtifa wrote

Yes, IIRC. You can always check the Git repo yourself to make sure, but as far as I'm aware it does!

ziq wrote

Do you have confirmation that they're anarchist?

1

transtifa wrote

Yeah, personal friend.

ziq wrote

We should add it to mirrorbot then

What kind of anarchist copyrights their work..?

2

transtifa wrote (edited )

What exactly are you referring to?

Edit: If you're talking about the copyright sign on the uploader, the code is under an MIT license which is incredibly permissive. https://github.com/superp00t/image9000/blob/master/LICENSE.txt

throwaway OP wrote

Sorry, was a bit too fast on the trigger there. I saw the "© 2018 Joshua Achorn" before checking the Github.

It's permissive FOSS, for anyone wondering.

Copyright is automatic in the US and many other countries.

Best you can do is use your copyrights to license things in a permissive and irrevocable manner.

Thanks, never knew that. This site might be worth holding onto, then.

Still transitioning to a new encrypted drive.
coinsh.red files can still be accessed (/p/, like normal), but nothing can be uploaded.
I'd wager 20:00 UTC as the latest before everything's back to normal.
