Raddle's going to hit 10 000 registered accounts in the next week or so probably. It's odd how many people register and do nothing.

What's up with that anyway? Shoplifters must be interested in some of the shit we talk about.

mostly alts for spam. maybe it could use a cleanup at some point

Seems to me that more than half of the unused accounts will never be used. Could definitely use a cleanup! I'd be nice if we could just automate account deletions for accounts older than 2 months with no activity.

What makes you believe that some of those accounts will definitely not have some activity in the future? I for one will be very disappointed if I find one of my accounts to be deleted simply because I didn't post or connect for the past 2 months.

By no activity I think they mean accounts that have never posted even once.

Well even then my argument still applies.

I don't see the problem with deleting them. It seems to me to be a praxis of personal vs private property. People want to reserve a particular username, not use it, and prevent others from using it, so they can benefit from it when the conditions are favorable. I'm not about that life.

Agreed. Also lately there have been a couple people making usernames like "Whatisausernameanyways" and "uniqueusernamehere", which suggests that their preferred usernames are are just being hoarded or have been taken and forgotten.

I kind of agree with this, some people just lurk or create an account and not use Raddle for a while and want to go back to it. If storage space isn't an issue I don't really see the problem with a lot of inactive accounts.

There seems to be a new thing that facebook is doing when you click on links to articles, and I suspect it identifies you individually to the website that you're visiting.

Often, when clicking a facebook link, it'd have a url, followed by a "?" or something which doesn't affect the page content but allows for more information to be added, usually something kinda like "ref=fb" - so that websites can tell that you came to them via facebook (though often the link will be copied from twitter or something, so it's not a perfect system). Now it still has those, but also "fbclid" followed by some gibberish numbers which I suspect are unique user IDs. I wonder if anybody's written about this.

They're even being added to stuff like CrimethInc's posts, so it seems like a blanket thing that facebook is doing. If my guess is right, that means that just forgetting to delete that extra text one time when reposting from facebook will be enough to tie you to your facebook ID.

I'll guess it happened at the same time that they took down all those big political pages.

I'd just like to say I appreciate the mods and active members who post new content consistently.

I like Radiohead. Playing Tom Waits right now, I like the depressive black metal band Advent Sorrow too.
