I'm thinking of doing the same as my first brush with linux. I'm obviously not much for computers, but I'd at least like mine to work when I want it to instead of the constant bullshit dealing with Win10.

Manjaro comes with propriety software. It even includes Steam.

My partner suggested a partition to use an older version of windows for things like playing games with her and to just do everything else on the linux side of things, but I'm not sure how well that'd work out in practice. Manjaro seems more appealing at first glance, but Neon would probably keep me from fucking things up too badly until I know what I'm doing.

Steam for Linux supports tons of games now so I wouldn't even bother with the partition.

Go for it. It's very easy and useable. Have any questions regarding moving over? (Settings, programs, etc.)

I'm certain they are enabled by default in mint. It's a distro that prioritizes ease of use.
