I'm new to all this (raddle)

Submitted by thelemotta in lobby

Finally, I took the courage to interact with all of you.

Uhh, where do I start? Well, I'm not a native speaker of English, and speak one of those barbaric languages of the Empire, so I'm trying to improve my English and my understand of this Raddle thing too. I consider myself to be a computer analphabet and open to corrections. I'm here to improve my understandings.

I live to the south of the border and currently working for the resurgence of feminine primordial chaos. Here my astrological chart for your consideration:

Link

I also considere myself a frustrated artist and a closeted anarchopunk who needs a lot of reading in post-left current. I hope won't offend anyone with my weird humor,

Love to yo'all Xoxo

Welcome! I'm new too. I say dumb things and ask for help all the time. This is a very welcoming and inclusive community.

I really don't know much of internet things and indulged myself with technological ignorance.. This is really a good community!

I would think that this would be one of the safest places for people who aren't into the internet right now. There are all sorts of forums for computers, security culture, privacy, etc. and I think many of us like to help new computer/internet users as a way of reinforcing and honing our own skills, motivating ourselves to stay up to date, and putting our frustration about the general state of things online, the victimization of our friends and families by predatory corporations, and our inability to help them to good use.

I might come looking for someone like you after a negative experience with member who wouldn't listen to me because I need you just as much as you need me. It's a different paradigm than "calling customer support" entirely.

There are enough of us here that if I get too full of myself and give you inappropriate or incomplete advice, someone is bound to call me out on it and point you in a better description.

That's a fuckload of "I"s, but the only mind I am actually privileged enough to be able to read is my own, so I use that pronoun a lot. It leaves room for someone else to come along and say "Well, I disagree and so does everyone else here." without causing unnecessary drama.

Hey welcome!

This can be a really cool place, you will find lots of people interested in computers, as well as post-leftistim, punk culture, and all sorts sorts of other things. I also like how this place tries to center people outside of the US and people of color generally.

If you're not a regular reddit user like myself, the format of the site might be a bit hard to get used to, but after a while you'll get used to it, it's very logical.

here are some of my favorite forums

f/decolonisation news and discussion on decolonization

/f/Anarchism obviously

/f/Green green anarchism, environomental issues etc.

/f/ACAB cuz fuck the police

/f/security_culture for staying safe on and off line

/f/freeAsInFreedom for all things open source software

here's a few groups i mod

/f/crypto crypto-anarchism: cryptography, cyberpunk etc.

/f/fedbook for talking shit about facebook

/f/wiki for working on the wiki page

This place can get boring sometimes, so please don't hesitate to post things you find interesting or ask questions / start a discussion.

/f/memer for memes

/f/shitpost for amything else

/f/games for videogames mostly

/f/Rate_that_praxis for people and animals paying back to the system

/f/thoughs to express deep thinking

/f/UselessThoughts for the unusual things our brains notice and come up with

And many, many more.

I came from a Platformist background (anarchoBolsheviks if you ask me), so this place seems great, full of diversity and new ideas!

3

autonomous_hippopotamus wrote

yeah it's really diverse here

I have mixed feelings about Platformism (Warning: Rant)

I think many of their ideas are valuable. Strategically at least, if we are to build working class unions and anarchists are to participate in them. The documents by the FARJ are very interesting, as well as the other historical texts. ( This blog has some good resources for anyone interested https://anarchistplatform.wordpress.com/ )

But they speak and act as if they are the only true anarchists, and their goal is to be the general anarchists union, as in, the only anarchist organization, that includes all real anarchists, and this union must have unity of theory and practice ... this is counter to anarchism, that advocates many forms of organization, diversity of tactics, etc.

Also, It seems like the type of people attracted to Platformism are former marxists, or at least anarchists with an authoritarian streak. It's not necessarily entryism, but there is definitely some Leninist crossover in the tradition. ( in one document by the Brazillian especifistas , they state all members must adhere to "dialectical materialism" (!!!) ) They promote a class reductionist worldview, and completely oppose any kind of individualism. They also worship Murray Bookchin for some reason, even though he was against working class revolution. Like marxists they must have their great intellectuals.

Basically, you summarized my principal critique of Platformism and Especifism. I'm diving into all post-left, post-civ and decolonization readings to heal my mind (i have hopes for my recovery).

The debate around morals here really catch my eye, because those anarchists (Plat's and Especifistas) actually believes in an universal proletariat moral.. And this just sounds not right.

3

autonomous_hippopotamus wrote

Yeah, that frustrates me too. The plats ignore all the philosophical questions that individualists and egoists talk about, and then just declare that individualists/egoists aren't anarchists at all and write them out of history.

It doesn't make much sense, since you can be a communist, and believe in working class organization, and also be an individualist with egoist ethics. Platformists and Syndicalists are basically "workerists" they think the working class is a great trancedant class with a "historic mission" that working class culture is inherently progressive, democratic, etc. It is just lazy thinking.

Some of them just do not elaborate on the consequences of the limited platformism theory, but the fearsome majority of them are trapped in the Ideology. In such a way that they think, like we talk, be the true repository of Anarchism, talking about much of discipline and unity of praxis (not a bad thing if u do not take yourself to serious).

What led me to think anarchist was precisely non-anarchist philosophers and writers, Thoreau, for instance. What I can not stand is the policing they do, for example in 2013 in a big rally some especifistas begun to command some 'hooligans' (students and anarchopunks) to stop randomizing targets and focusing on show the population the struggle and lalala. Afterwards some people begun to throw rocks in a bus full of passengers demanding people to get off the bus to burn it, then some especifistas showed up to educate the 'hooligan mass'.

Hi :)

Maybe you'd be interested in modding f/astrology or f/HealingAndSpirituality?

Hi Ziq, sorry what is modding?

I've been lurking on this site for over a year, I'm always seeing people give ziq shit, i'm sure there are legitimate criticisms as to the managing of the site or when a ban is justified or not, and i can see why people might disagree with him philosophically, but i've never ziq say anything reactionary.

It's also true that ziq, being (i believe) an admin and co-founder, is naturally going to be the target of both nazi trolls and tankie wreckers. Most of the criticism of ziq I see are vague and personal insults. The fact that there are so many open ziq haters who don't get banned says a lot.

ziq is a dear and it's loads of fun to read their stuff but they really can't talk to us newbies very much right now. This too shall pass.

ETA: if you click on a user's name you can learn more about them. The last I knew, ziq's preferred pronouns were they/their.

I am also pro-ziq. Lots of good posts. Clearly cares about the success of Raddle. I don’t get the post left thing, but everyone on here has their particular point of view.

They have responded personally to threads I started and been very helpful and kind. I haven't been here long enough to have a valid opinion on any ongoing site issues and defend them to others so it would be a mistake to do so, but I like them and they have never given me any reason not to.

Unless you're one of the handful of transhumanists and tankies I've butted heads with in the past, there's no reason you'd have a problem with me. Some people just hold a mean grudge when you insult their ideology.

2

noordinaryspider wrote

Well, all I can do about that is say "I disagree" and objectively describe positive interactions. You've only shown me kindness while appropriately protecting your own community.

If you made any conscious changes about how to handle somewhat suspicious newbies right before I joined then keep up the good work.

I'll talk less in the future, I've just been confused and needed a safe place to vent and ask questions.
