It's definitely normal. Making friends with other earthlings is a thing.

If you pick a spot in the woods and sit there for at least 30 minutes every day, you'll begin to see all the life that actually hangs out around that spot as they get familiar with your pattern. Humans have suddenly become the scariest thing alive on this planet, so they don't often want to get to know us like that anymore.

Cool. I'm a big animal lover, so I'm thrilled by this, just never experienced it before. Now that you mention it, my routine is pretty regular around the house. The birds probably just came to the conclusion that I'm harmless after a couple of years.

Wow, that sounds amazing and scary at the same time. I've never seen one. I know they are around here where I live, and I go out hiking alone in remote areas a lot where I know they are.

One time I thought I may have heard one. I was coming up on this big rocky area with a few caves and I heard a low kind of rumbling, kind of like when a cat gives one of those deep sounding purrs. I did exactly the wrong thing and immediately turned around and walked the other way. I was pretty scared. I don't know what I heard, but I was pretty convinced that it was a big cat. It could have been a bobcat, but I wasn't taking any chances.
