I'm on new anxiety medication, and it's giving me insomnia. Feeling pretty good though otherwise though.

I've been rewatching Star Trek Deep Space 9. It's still the best Trek show. Also, the Amazon show Sneaky Pete. It's not bad.

I started on DS9, but still haven't been able to get through it (not because it's bad, but my own attention problems, and the fact that I'm watching it on my PC in a netflix browser, where vidya gaems and tvTropes are a tab away.

I myself am deep in season 3 of TNG.

That sneaky pete show sounds pretty interesting based on what I just read. Never heard of it.

Cranston overall is great. How prominently does he star in it?

ziq wrote

He's the villain in season 1 and I found him distracting.

Too bad, I dont think he fits the role of a straight up villain. He works better in more morally ambiguous roles like he did in Breaking Bad.

he is incapable of not acting like a dork - i genuinely do not know how he got a reputation for acting badass

i mean not that this is a bad thing bc it works for walt but yeah

I got removed from the project today, damn gringos. I did the hardest processes without complaining too much but because I had errors sometimes I need to go. I'll see how it goes when the processes start expiring while having personnel because noone will take it.

I've been trying to read Foucault's The Order of Things: An Archaeology of the Human Sciences for like a week now

The first chapter is an exhaustive analysis of one painting and it's dreary and impossible to concentrate throughout

I'm thinking I'm just going to skip the chapter and stop putting myself to sleep

I've never gotten through more than a chapter or two of Foucault. Really hate his writing style.

I got through the first quarter of DIscipline and Punish but I barely retained any of it and I would lose my bookmark and end up rereading sections without even realizing it

I've only read his short piece on parrhesia some time ago

Am hoping this one gets better!

its probably a bad idea to start with order of things, most people start with history of sexuality

i started with archaeology of knowledge because it was most relevant to my interests at the time (intellectual history) which hahahaha was a mistake

Threadbot should probably post this earlier! It's almost Saturday here :)

Hah yeah that's my bad, I fucked the time up.

No worries! Any progress on stickying posts or setting up an RSS posting thing?

I was thinking that ideally an RSS would load posts and be able to remove stuff. For example all It'sGoingDown stuff tacks on "- It's Going Down" to the end of every post title which I manually remove each time. And Enough Is Enough always puts hashtags all over their article titles also that it'd be nice to automatically have removed.

I never did reddit. How does free talk work :)

I'll try to get some of that done today or tomorrow. Is there an IGD rss? I don't see one.

People just brought up any random shit they didn't want to make a whole thread about. Often just updates about their lives. I didn't know you were never even on reddit! How'd you find this site then?

3

Tequila_Wolf wrote (edited )

I don't remember! I have looked at reddit before but never made an account.

I think someone checked and saw an RSS for IGD before, I'll have a look also!

Edit: couldn't find it, have emailed them to check.

How do I add someone as a mod on a forum?

3

Tequila_Wolf wrote (edited )

Standard procedure is to request it in meta and then the user gets added as moderator by an admin unless/until the community objects.

Mods cad demod themselves but I don't think that they can add mods - not sure.

Assuming you wanted to add u/ThreadBot to f/TestGround I've done that now.

Tequila_Wolf wrote

And keep in mind starting a forum makes you mod automatically, in case somehow that's slipped your mind.

if you have the bot start f/itsgoingdown and then set it up that all the IGD stuff gets auto-posted there, that seems ideal?

exciting.

3

selver wrote

Oh sure, I can do it that way.

3

Tequila_Wolf wrote

I like that approach since it'll encourage people to subscribe to things they want to see and have the option not to have every IGD or whatever article in their feed.

If you have another way you prefer though then go for it! It's just the only one I've thought of.

Especially if you end up writing some kind of script that allows anybody to do this with an RSS feed, it seems wortwhile that each gets its own forum so people can be picky about what they see.

It's interesting.
