When I started posting here, it was fairly lively; I liked the community and I enjoyed a lot of conversations here; tankies were more common as were the socialists that didn't attach a last name to their ideology.

There was some community drama that I didn't bother paying attention to and won't elaborate on --long time users can probably guess at what I'm alluding to-- this was and is the only social media forum that I actually bothered with, so I didn't want to deal with that. There were also some transhumanists here. Not any more.

Tankies, bookchinites, and various lefties reached an uptick once the podcast subreddit got the boot; place got a lot less green nihilist and a lot more red workerist. I didn't mind too much, and wanted to be welcoming; and traffic here shot up; for a little while. Eventually, the newcomers clashed with the with the classic userbase over various issues and the lefties fucked off to...Lemmy, I think? There was a lot of "raddle is dead" posting by the tanks which just annoyed the old userbase (which includes me now); eventually they fucked off, now their appearances are more scarce.

I helped a little with the wiki effort and I think I did decent with the egoist stuff, but I didn't get as much criticism or community participation as I was expecting, so it felt less like a community thing on my end and more like something that could be marred in my own personal biases (I haven't done anything to it since then; I hate reading my old stuff most of the time); I assume it's fine because no one was all that critical of it.

I'm noticing some anti-anti-individualism going on here, which I think is pretty neat; iirc, Tequila Wolf had some critiques towards individualism as a whole way back. Probably due to the classic post-left position on reds and their biases towards group planning, but I won't be picky about "why".

There were a lot of users that I enjoyed talking to here that left for various reasons; it's a shame, really. Hopefully, with how the world is going, we could get some disillusioned liberals/socialists/baby anarchists and help them get cooler opinions.

Ive been looking at raddle since at least 2018, according to the info on the account whose password I forgot.

I think raddle has been one of my favourite sites for a large part of that, and still is. I feel like theres been a lot of changes in that many people come contributed a lot and left.

I feel like there used to be a louder trans presence here before than there is now. Don't know why really think it's sad or idk could reflect on the larger user base poorly?

There's no more /f/shoplifting, on one hand I think that had a positive effect, but I guess somehow it doesn't sit right w me exactly, even though most of what was there was trash as far as I'm concerned.

I want to shout out the raddle TOS and the people that feel responsible to point out/handle violations.

Feel like there's less trolls coming here these days. Sometimes they are entertaining sometimes not idk.

I feel like site has been extremely USA centred in the last months. I also know some of those users who contributed to this aren't here anymore. I don't like that it was. And I consciously make an effort to not to post USA shit too much.

Related /f/USA is in the top 10 most posted forums here and it bothers me. We only need like 10 posts in /f/green to change it, so have at it people

There is much more extensive and as far as I'm concerned dope playlist in /f/HipHop since I've started coming here. Not to big myself up too much and large up the other people who post there like /u/Monday.

It's always been quiet here. Sometimes I wish there was more discussion, but I also often have trouble writing something down. I had the feeling it's quieter than usual recently. Not sure if it's real but if it is I guess it's sad.

I have always appreciated the stuff people link to and write here, and they have good ideas and that's been the case the whole time. And I have learned and continue to learn a lot here.

Maybe I'll think of more later.

Ah I started taking more active part outside of just posting in /f/HipHop in the last months. It makes me happy at least, but I guess y'all can be the judge of that too

About the louder trans presence... I don't know about all of us, but I think most of us are just tired of talking about it. It feels like there is not much positive to talk about, and if it isn't about states giving permission to be trans, it generally is growing less and less.

I also would love to hear more. But I am lost as to what there is to hear that isn't traumatic.

The quietness might also be a symptom of the lense that US-American legal politics is for gender politics online for some reason; or at least I feel so, I don't even live on the American continents, but still dread the cultural impact the US-American legal issues create in other countries.

The quietness is still odd.

I don't know if I understand really what you were referring to. Could you give another indication?

I am still thinking how to put up a playlist of our posts lol - one 9f my projects here

And I too regret that some users had to delete their accounts, maybe we lost some diversity bc of that.

I have the U S A forum hidden since one user started posting the whole site with petty news about democrats and republicans.

Hey I remember that and I'm a US American and when they were doing that I was trying to post there some worthwhile stuff, because I take an interest in it even if I ain't there anymore and it definitely bears discussion for me at least.

But yea that was super annoying

And I am too haha I just need some time to experiment with writing a client for raddle.

But I can write out my rough idea elsewhere when I'm not high if you wanna see it.

I've been silently trans this whole time, but that's probably mostly due to burnout from my time on reddit. I'm overly cautious about opening up in that regard, but I haven't really seen anything here to make me feel unwelcome here (at least, anything that didn't come from a random troll.)

Been enjoying your posts and comments in the past couple months. There's more that went through my head reading this, but I'll leave it at that for now.

Hey I think Ive been reading stuff you write for time at this point, and I enjoy yours too, or you say stuff I find thought provoking, interesting and well reasoned, though relatively often stuff you write about just goes over my head if I'm honest

Sometimes I write down exactly as thoughts come to mind, and make references to things I've been reading, as lazy invitations to get in on discussions I would like to see more of, hoping someone would test the robustness of my ideas. But I'm a little conflicted on all that — some of it is probably just boring theory blah blah that won't liberate anyone.

I used to post a ton of antiwork stuff back when I first joined a little over two years ago (now I just post my weird little diary). in fact antiwork used to be real active in part because of me and other users, and of course in part because of reddit drama.

Debates happen less now we seem to have no hot take havers now. I also felt like the deep nerdy shit was talked about more. Some of that had to do with emoticons who also added a real silliness (along with probably myself and definitely fool) to raddle that I really enjoyed.

IDK, it ain't hugely different imo. Things have always been in flux here, having their waxing and waning.

For me it's been six years, which is not an insignificant portion of my life.

One big change has been that we now have banned phrases, which I think has dramatically decreased how much modding we have to do. Less spam, and fashy turds don't get as far when they can't just say what they want.

I participate but increasingly I've been more interested in affecting my physical surroundings. I have a decent baseline of anarchist theory but am aware of the ways it is divorced from my context, so I'm working on anarchist theory and practice emergent from my context.

I'd say there are a fewer anarchists around at the present than have been. I wonder if any of the anarchists here will come (again) to feel they want to / can put the kind of energy in that it takes for a space like this to pick up more users. Currently I'd say only kano is doing it. Ideally there would be at least a couple more. I'm fine with how things are now, but it's not unusual for me to ask about something anarchists should/could know about in an askRaddle and end up wanting there to have been more and better responses. Raddle should be a resource network for information and entry points to good ideas and practices, and currently we're below threshold for this to be effective.

I see you that you always ask interesting questions, I always feel bad for you that often there isnt a lot of discussion on them. For me it's kind of similar to subrosa the way you write in that it's super interesting or whatever but that it often goes over my head. But I try to respond when I can and usually feel that my response is totally inadequate.

Agree with you about what raddle should be and I'm trying to do what I can to make it so.

I don't think I can do better than other people in describing how things have changed, as my memory is rather poor in that regard, but I can give one hope for the future at least. There is a kind of resistance to outside viewpoints which I think is very problematic... when rattledlove1139 came I think it was especially exposed, more so than when argumentative or unsincere people are around, which is that as a group we are slow to question our beliefs. Yes, they stirred a little...

Their various disabilities, as well as being sincere, lead them to cause a little stir, because many of us had not thought of it, especially in relation to the majority anticiv--but then it began to slow down again and go under. I think we should be able to show more willingness to change in compassionate ways and reconsider a little more thoughtfully when someone gives us a problem we had not considered well enough.

They haven't posted in a while, which I think is a shame, and I do not claim to know why, but... if you are still around...

I haven't been here for a while. It seems a lot quieter. Maybe there are less anarchists in general now though. Anarchistnews and libcom are basically dead and the reddit communities are mostly liberals.

Well, I will describe my own experience hopping it you give some insights.

When I started lurking, I came from reddit by accident, was postmill already but really early on and I was for the news not convos, got useful references and some zines that sparked my attention and restored my faith in anarchism. Lots of alternate media posts that reminded me of Indymedia, and the occasional post with good references.

A year later maybe I created an account that I lost access. Never interacted besides a couple of posts, so I don't remember the fights and all, I think the spirit of the site continued from my lurking phase, if the leftists left I can't remember exactly, and could care less bc I wasn't so invested like I am now.

Then COVID hits and out of boredom I decided to create this account and become real active. I liked that there was already a clear black flag anarchy leaning and really good discussions, a lot of struggle sessions too. Fast-forward to today I think we have more diverse posts but not to the point of losing the raddleness. Illegalism was not a lost in my opinion, one of the healthiest decisions. I think the current userbase avoid to debate or take the contrary position (some exceptions like you and captainacab, and probably forgetting a couple more users). I miss this flaming posts sometimes. I grow a lot through the debates, but right now I am saturated with everything anarchy so maybe it's only my perception.

And other thing is that I perceive a general bornout in activist circles irl, I see we are hitting one of those historical lows maybe it reflects postcovid consensus. Is it affecting Raddle? And we lost very interesting users, and tequila seems very busy at the moment..

oh, same! Though I get trying to avoid conflicts that may get people to ragequit and delete their accounts.

And the general burnout low, I sense that too. Maybe it feels extra-ridiculous debating shit among a few regulars when the stakes are so low, when it doesn't feel like we're enjoying a wave of fresh interest in radical ideas, see new exciting writers popping up everywhere, etc.
