Somehow everyone in my household except me has been sick this entire week. Which means it falls on me to take care of everyone, and everything while also working. and I am just super grumpy and pissed off and burnt out and I just want to lay on the floor while someone cracks my neck.

I got the wildest letter the other day from a non-profit in an attempt to shame me into voting by, get this, showing me the voting record of other people who share my first name.

There's a table across the middle with my legal first name with my last name blocked out, my address, and then like 4 elections worth of "Did Not Vote" Then under my name is two other people who, again, I do not know and do not have anything in common with, with the exception of a shared first name and that we all live within a border of about 82k square miles, with their addresses blocked out and then their voting record across the same 4 elections (#2 voted in all 4, #3 voted in 3/4).

Then after that it says

We will be reviewing these records after the election to determine whether or not you joined others with your same first name in voting.

Like a threat???

I can not think that at any time in my entire life I have considered whether or not I was making other people who have the same first name as I do proud of me with my voting participation. Like what the fuck kind of wackadoodle head ass nonsense is this? Was I supposed to read this and be like "fuck, I'm a disappointment to my first name?"

7 inches of snow the last 2 days. Winter is here for the next 6 months. Gonna try to actually do some winter "sports" this year like cross-country skiing. Need something to break up the darkness, snow-covered ground, and black mirror screens.

I feel you... up to the point I probably don't work as much. A month or so ago, trying to juggle looking after kids at home sick and trying to fit a full work week, and the aftermath of Covid isolation working somewhat is a shitload of mega colds and flus.

the USA has voter registration info public. I has no info on web info sale sights until I registered to vote for a job. Then I had my address available, my phone number, people I live next to, where I wen to school ect all available on looking up my name. Voting on some level literally advocates Americans dox them self lol. Not to mention really helps the state serve you are warrant or hunt you down for a warrant at a later date.

Tho as you can imagine those who cry about voting don't worry or care about such issues.

CW extremely white tourist

I havn't experienced this because I havn't gone to any tourist areas, but on puerto rican reddit locals say that white tourists always say the same joke on the El Yunque National Forest tours. Now the tourists never know any spanish (not that I'm one to talk). so they always just call it the junky forest and love cracking jokes about "why are we paying money to go to a junky forest, wow Puerto ricos national forest is a junky forest? why not make have a nice one instead? and similar such jokes. Can u imagine having to listen to white assholes say the same fucking insulting joke every day. ugh

I talked with cory and a few other people for a couple hours about deleuze. It was fun

Two days ago I literally looked at getting a year long lease on an apartment. I did it for a while and then became horrified at such a vile concept. Then spent some time attacking that lib in my head. God whats next will I start job hunting on indeed? jesus

Also,I don't have to wonder why all the rental listings in english include guards and gated communities. Which is something. (I looked at them because the rich white area is way more walk-able. White people basically own all the coastal property in this city while the farther you get from the ocean the less american it gets.

I "like" my new job.

I don't care about the work itself, but something's been going on: I stop getting calls at around the last 2 and a half hours of my shift (here's hoping that continues indefinitely, because my work ethic is so low that sitting at a desk with nothing to do is still better than the 5 and a half spent on the phone with--ugh-- people), so I'm a lot closer to the "four hour workday" than most.

Of course, even with this enviable position, I still don't actually want to work and still actively dread the idea of doing my job; so if anything, I'm even more convinced that work reform is a waste of time and that work abolition is where it's at.

When I lived in Arizona, I got these. Different variations too— people with my first name, people in my age group, people in my zip code.

It was horse shit.

Like lettuce explained it's publicly available information. If you vote who you vote for is not recorded (anymore, it used to be - leading to black men being murdered after they were granted the right to vote if they voted for anything other than the Democrats (who were the party of the South at the time)).

I get mailers every now and again with my voting record printed out asking why I haven't voted but never one that was like this. It's so wild!

I can't imagine anyone is spurred to vote by this kind of thing?
