I really wish that anarchists would quit Marx. Like I get that Marxist theory can be useful but also economics is the least important part of anarchism imo. but so many anarchists define themselves through their conception of economic organization and I think it inhibits us a lot.

I heavily dislike the constant worship of Marx in anarchist spaces, personally i don't find him that useful or relevant to our current circumstances, it just feels like they are needlessly clinging to an idol who has near-mainstream acceptance.

if I'm being honest whether Marx is useful or not is something I'm depending on other people to know. I've never read Marx and have no plans to ever do so. so saying that is just me parroting what other people have told me so that no one tries to lecture me about it 😂

I'm on a discord server for a popular anarchist youtuber and there are so many conversations about Marx that I've just checked out of the space almost entirely. it's actually pretty alienating to feel like to be able to participate in discussions in an anarchist space I need to be fluent in not only Marxist theory but also the history around it. like fucking why?

I think I can agree that's part of it but not the whole thing. and thinking about it right now I'm wondering if it doesn't have to do with conception of what a human future will look like.

having economic theory makes sense when you imagine a future that necessitates things like economies of scale.

that's not the future I see. but that's doomerism and no one wants that.

I will not.

I only own black clothes. I can't be anything but a nihilist. It's impossible. I tried!

I own 3 black tshirts, 1 black buttoned shirt, 1 black cargo trousers and a stone grey hoodie. Plus 1 black shoes. That's my entire wardrobe.

This reminded me of SK3 he would only wear black bc he was a anarchist and wanted to be black like the anarchist flag.

You never have to get bloc if you stay bloc.

Even my covid masks are black - though I also have some really pretty pastel ones with clouds and stars and some that are rainbow colors. :3

... I have let some colour back into my wardrobe, so people at work pay less attention.

I even own a nice chunky pair of New Rock boots (... which I haven't worn in 15 or years).

But I guess I was always absurd about it - black nails, black lipstick, and pictures of flowers and love hearts drawn on my face.

Black trench coat, black boots, long black hair - in pigtails with a daffodil chain on my head.

😍

I have some floral prints and a few dresses that are grey but everything else is black or black and white (checker board patterns). In the before times I wore really bright lipsticks and had crayon hair colors and used glitter on my cheeks like freckles. my shoes are usually pretty interesting too. idk what it is but I just cannot make myself feel comfortable wearing things that are colorful on my body.

It annoys me a lot. They also define themselves through work. Whenever I tell them I'm anti-work and wonder why they like work so much, they think I'm lazy. Some anarchists they are.

Anarchosyndicalism is almost dead nowadays, so besides a couple of unions that doesn't have any relevance anymore these people are engaging in historical reenactment

Yeah. And it's not just dead, imo it was never all that convincingly anarchistic to begin with.

It's the only type of anarchism that my philosophy major co-worker knew about. When I found out he was a philosophy major, I started sending him philosophy memes and then he asked how I knew about philosophy and I was like "uh, yeah, mostly from anarchists who are growing increasingly nihilist these days" and he brought up "oh, there's that syndo thing that Chomsky talked about" and I was like, "Yeah, okay, so yeah."

One of the strange things about anarchist studies or marxist studies or whatever is that they are often not actually done by people with that ideology.

I once snuck into a seminar on anti-authoritarian marxisms and it was taught by a neoliberal. It was just a job to him. Really strange to see him thinking through that content without a single aha moment about capitalism.

I don't particularly mind the idea of an anarchist studies PhD though. If it's fully funded you can just treat it like any job, except you get whole summers paid time off and get to learn loads about what you are interested in on work time.

For a year and half I've been seeing the writing on the wall that I'll need a second job or second source of income, only to be barely saved by a struck of luck. This month my luck finally ended.

I tried selling my car, which i hate to use, but there's very little interest in an old beaten down car. I tried doing gigs on Upwork only to get banned in less than 5 minutes lol. I'm now doing overtime at work, which is annoying and tiresome.

Internets been giving me issues for month. All devices (both ethernet and wireless) would all disconnect for at least five minutes several times every hour. They sent a guy out twice. First time he just replaced the modem, and then ranted about the modem being in the garage, and then left. (Modem is in my garage because all the ethernet ports in the house lead to a room in my garage) Problem was still there. They send the same guy a week later. He moves the modem out of the garage stating that it probably is making our signal bad (never mind that the ethernet gets disconnected at the same time). Problem is still there. Well today they are sending like the guys supervisor and the people on the phone finally figured out that its a problem with the cable line not with the equipment, or my placement of said equipment. I wasn't home when the guy they sent was here but wife says he was a creep, glad their sending someone else this time.

I did replace my router with their rented combo modem/router. My router was like 15 yrs old. My speed and ping got way better. But now I have no control over my router, if I ever have money again I am getting my own modem and router. Kind of hilarious the router page redirects to a web page meaning that you can't access router settings if the internet is down.

We got a punch card for oil changes as a gift and for the first time ever my car only needed an oil change. no repairs or anything. it was kind of weird like I just picked up my car from an oil change and didnt need to pay for anything.

One of my coworkers gave me the details about everyone being snitches. I've already seen evidence of it myself but it was a nice talk we had.

Tried the freelance data entry stuff. Not a good way to make money imo. Probably not going to do this but thinking of selling stuff on Etsy. If anyone wants to give me the deets on how much time they put in and how much money they make that would be helpful.

I’m learning German rn. It’s hard work but I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it.

My grandmother is pissed at my mother bc I don’t know it yet. It’s not my mother’s fault tho. I had really bad ADHD when I was little and was struggling hard to learn English. That and the fact that the move to America was difficult for her made her quit speaking German to little me.

The more I live, the more I realize that in an ideal world all those people who don't like to talk politics are right, and that that is especially true in an electoral system. Like why talk about something that makes you sad if you aren't going to do literally anything about it. What's the point.
